Why would returning guardsmen from Louisiana need debriefed?
I have seen hundreds of National Guard vehicles coming back from Louisiana passing my house--I mean hundreds in the past several days.
I found this in the paper

Up to 3,000 military personnel are scheduled to arrive at Camp Maxey starting Saturday, camp officials confirmed today.

Their humanitarian mission complete, the estimated 2000-3000 Oklahoma National Guard personnel deployed to help with hurricane relief efforts along the Gulf Coast will stop at Camp Maxey in northern Lamar County to undergo the demobilization process.

"It's a lot of paperwork," he added, explaining the process of demobilization that each guardsman must complete. "It includes a thorough assessment of each soldier, their physical condition and the condition of each piece of their equipment. We have to account for all of their equipment and weapons.”

Each guardsman must also complete an extensive amount of paperwork before they are done, including forms covering matters of insurance and salary, before the process is complete.

I have never heard of such nonsense. Why can't they just return to their home bases like they normally do?
Why the central location?
Something doesn't seem right about this. Anyone wanna bet they are being made to sign something that says that can't tell anyone what they saw or how many bodies?
Is this a quarantine? I don't know.
Can anyone tell me this is normal SOP? I know it is for soldiers returning from a war zone...but hurricane cleanup?

1. Standard procedure following deployment
They were deployed to a particular mission. Upon returning, every single soldier who has ever been deployed in a similar situation or one involving overseas deployment goes through this paper process. Splitting them up and having them do it through mail or other means creates havoc on the organization as a whole. Also, it allows the base commanders to assess any problems their troops may be experiencing (Physical or mental) and take prompt action for their care. Just much easier to do it this way.
