Roberts for Rehnquist and Miers for O'Connor or ?

is it actually the reverse? Roberts is the replacement for O'Connor and Miers is the replacement for Rehnquist? After all, O'Connor was seen as the moderate on the Court, Republican, but not as partisan as they would liked her to have been. Rehnquist was always a partisan. He could be counted on to vote with the right-wing or the White House.

Although Roberts took Rehnquist's job and Miers is scheduled to take O'Connor's job, Roberts may be closer to O'Connor and Miers may be closer to the Rehnquist model? Just a thought.

1. I think Roberts will be more moderate than most think.
However, this is actually very speculative at the moment so I don't want to spend too much time speculating.

3. I think you have it spot-on.....The only good thing I can see is the ...
POSSIBILITY Roberts might be a little more rational than Rehnquist and that could be very helpful in a Chief Justice. I think Miers will vote with Thomas and Scalia 95% of the time, Roberts maybe 65% of the time.

How often they can attract Souter or Kennedy to join them to form a 5 person majority remains to be seen. I'd expect more often than not.
