My favorite lines from Mr.bush's press conference
"You can't divorce bridging divides, April, from economic vitality. You just can't. It's a part of how we enable people to realize dreams -- by having a growing economy."

Then there is "Secondly, I don't think you can divorce bridging divides from ownership."

Finally "I think it's important for us to continue to allow faith-based programs to interface with people, to help them have hope. One of the most important initiatives I laid out was the mentoring program for children whose parents may be in prison. And so you address the racial divide in a variety of ways. And, obviously, the tone matters from leadership. It matters what leaders say. It matters that somebody, first of all, understands there's a problem and is willing to talk about it. And I will continue to do so as the President"

Other than that, I am glad I didn't listen to his Smirkness. WTF is he talking about?

2. Can you translate that for me?
Did he just mention prison and racial divides in the same sentence? I guess I better go read the whole thing to decide how pissed I'm going to be. (Sigh)

12. i think "wtf" means...
bush has no idea what he is talking about.

i have no idea what bush is talking about.

neither of us have any idea what he is talking about, but his lips are moving.

if his lips are moving, and i can see them, it means they aren't plastered to cheney's butt. at this point, i'll take that.

so i think that while i freely admit i don't know what the hell he is talking about, and neither does he, we can no longer rule out the possibility that there is no intelligent life inside the white house.

that will, of course, prove to be no obstacle to bush, to whom it doesn't matter what he says. since he isn't listening, he doesn't expect us to listen either. we bad.

who's on first.

i don't give a damn.

13. Like you, I was appalled
He said " One of the most important initiatives I laid out was the mentoring program for children whose parents may be in prison. And so you address the racial divide in a variety of ways."

If I recall correctly, this was part of his bizarre rabbit in the headlights answer to the question of the racial divide in his approval rating.

The thing the above quote reveals is how he sees "those black people" as being all prisoners and the people coming to the help and rescue of those prisoners and their families as being ( of course, from his p.o.v.) all the "good" real humans i.e. the white people.

What an ignorant arrogant racist prick!

There I wrote it. I feel better. Carefully explicating the racism which underpins these people's logic is essential in the effort to fight them I believe.

18. Well I just read the whole thing
And I'm about as pissed as I thought I'd be. He just kept repeating himself as usual, without really answering softball questions, except Mr. President, are you still a conservative? (answer yes) What is this Jr High? And he is a racist, insensitive asshole.

19. yup.
I can't listen to him, haven't read any of the press conferences for a couple wks because I've been busy working. I am appalled to read this today. He has a problem, some sort of real problem. For the last yr I have told people that there was not enough pain for change to happen, but I think our country, our people, us, are getting to that point. Back to work. Peace, shaking my head in wonderment.

3. May I please obtain a divorce from that imbecile in the Oval Office?
I would like to cite irreconcilable differences, the first one being that I am sane and that man is batshit crazy.

When I half-listen, while doing other things, I never catch the full weight of the blivet's words, so I am always amazed, I tell ya, when I read them!

15. I wonder how
those journalists and reporters can sit there with a straight face. Must feel like working for Pravda in the 60's...relegated to puppet press conferences. They must have to reward themselves to stay sane.

16. Divorce bridging divides
I'm going to take a stab at it:

To separate from unifying separators.

It makes no sense whatsoever.

21. I'm clueless as you.
It would seem what the President means is that he's been "bridging divides" all through his rousing presidency, and he's not about to "divorce" himself from that.

I'm surprised he used the term "interface" to mean "jawin' with the folks" Someone *has* to have gotten him a "word a day" desk calendar.
