Clarence Page: Don't feel to sorry about poor Rush's resignation
"Could Limbaugh be overrated because of the media's desire to have a successful champion of white privilege? After all, ESPN folks made no secret of their desire to boost ratings by hiring a famous and controversially edgy political commentator who also loves football. But does anyone think they might consider giving an offer to, say, the Rev. Jesse Jackson?"

<snip>

"Despite Limbaugh's cheapening of his talents in a manner all too familiar to black Americans, McNabb has treated this ugly affair with admirable grace. Excellence, his attitude and actions tell us, is the best revenge for such insults. We can all learn from him."

More here

I know it's a dead horse for a lot of us, and I don't really have much to add. Page sums it up pretty well.

1. I agree McNabb handled it with class.
McNabb has more decency in his little toe than Cyst Boy ever had.

3. I think Rush is over-rated for the very reason Clarence Page states :
"Could Limbaugh be overrated because of the media's desire to have a successful champion of white privilege?..."
==========================================
He is not that smart. He is very good at propaganda that benefits those of white privilege, namely wealthy Repubs. That's it.

4. I agree that's the heart of it
We could tease it out more, trying to figure out exactly how media racism accrues to entrenched wealth and power. But the sheer audacity of ESPN acting all innocent about Rush and why they hired him--

WAKE UP!

Thank you, America. We now return to your regularly scheduled programming.
