I'm buying a condo in New Orleans in the Quarter
It looks like a friend of mine (who has lived there for 20 years) has decided to move on and is selling me his condo (Gov. Nichols and Decatur) for a lot less than he could have gotten a year ago.

It had some wtaer damage and the roof needs replacing. Some old electrical stuff and the plumbing needs refurbishing. The place has been home to many over the years and he thinks it's haunted by some civil war soldier. Maybe it was a whorehouse back in the '20's...

Perfect, I say! I lived around the corner from there for six years.

Once the place is up to speed, it would be gret to have fellow DUers down there to celebrate that wonderful city coming back!

1. Cool. I think most Quarter buildings probably need that kind of repair,

and that hasn't anything to do with Katrina. They're just very old buildings.

2. sounds nice, good for you
getting in on the ground floor so to speak. There should be alot of moving and shaking going on around there.

I was reading in the paper how a hotel owner and his son, cant recall the name, were snapping up hotels in the city-they are going to have a monopoly.

Have faith, it'll be back betterr than ever

3. Absolutely flawless!
I wish you the best of luck! Its always been a dream of mine to live in the Quarter but visiting it is about the best I can do. It hurts just knowing how long it will be before I can return to the place i love so well

Enjoy!

5. Wow, that's great. Just as soon as New Orleans feels well enough
to have visitors, I intend to go there are spend as much money as I can afford, but I've got to stay in a certain Bed & Breakfast place that I stayed in last time; the gay guys who ran it were what made the trip so much fun and I told them I would come back and stay with them. Maybe we'll run into each other; I'll buy you a beer and we'll tell tall tales about Nawlins.

11. The place could sleep ten or so if you don't mind inflateable beds
I really do plan on it being a place for people to enjoy...when I'm not in Madison WI, I'll be there...for Jazz Fest and maybe Mardi Gras...although I'd rather rent out then...

Hell, you could spell "lagniappe"...so you get first dibs...

Maybe I'll make my first trip to New Orleans, when you throw your party.
