Arnold says he is going to bring businesses back to California
One word How?

All you here about is the skyrocketing workers comp. But if Arnold is campaigning as a Republican with Republican ideals.... isn't it the Republicans (or rich white CEOs) who are all for sending our jobs out of this country? How is Arnold going to bring manufacturing jobs back? Last year alone California lost 600,000 manufacturing jobs.... by what date and what means is he going to bring them back?

3. And he'll lower gas prices too
In fact, I'll bet that gas prices will tumble in California.

Now that the Bush/Enron cabal doesn't need to embarrass a Dem governor anymore, they'll stop screwing California.

4. manufacturing is toast...
it will get worse as more stuff is sent to China. IT is toast -- gone to India. There are lots of low paid retail jobs.

How is Arnold going to pay for these initiatives when he is cutting taxes? Just cutting taxes isn't going to help business get going. A few judicial tax cuts might help but it will be at the expense of social services. People are not realistic these days. There is not much more "waste" to cut out of state budgets. BTW what is his plan for the laid off state employees? Are they to be given the Walmart option?

9. Arnold will blame the Dem legislature
Arnie's basic platform is cut taxes(reduce govt revenue) and cut services and govt jobs.

He has to get this through Dem-controlled legislature. If he doesn't get what he wants, he can just blame whatever happens on the Dems.

But people get very unhappy when govt services are cut, no matter how much they hate taxes. And laid-off workers will only make the employment picture uglier.

13. But won't people realize that the jobs that are created
ie Wal Mart greeter, and landscape workers.... have no security, no benefits, no opportunity for advancement, wages that shi**y comparatively to what they had before.

When will people realize this? Or are they too braindead from watching Entertainment Tonight ooops I mean CNN.

8. Voters must not think anymore
Or maybe I was just under the illusion that they did in the first place. But how is he going to tackle the budget, repeal taxes and attract meaninful jobs (not Wal-Mart greeter jobs) into California.

I am just at a loss for words.

I was born and raised in California for 19 years. I moved to South Carolina about 7 years ago - my family thought I was moving to the black hole of the US - but I woke up this morning and thought what happened since I have been gone.

12. LOL
Guess I should consider moving back to my home state since arnie is gonna "pump up calyfurnia." Texas is pissing me off anyway, and "calyfurnia" isn't totally controlled by repukes like Texas is. Besides I have family there and maybe they can use some help with the rent or their electric bills.

11. There will be some improvement. Rock bottom syndrome.
Bush has driven this economy about as far down as it will go, and without some major disaster it will stabilize a bit. What will bring a few jobs back to California will be falling wages. It will become cheaper to open factories there since there are so many unemployed and underemployed.

That's the sad thing. Reagan did the same thing. He drove the economy so far down with his irresponsible tax cuts (and for those who don't know, we were in a recovery when Reagan took office, despite the lying lies that lying Republicans tell you) that it was artificially depressed, and could only go up. So it began a slow climb. It did not reach the level of production it had been at when Reagan was elected until five or six years into the Reagan era, but since it was climbing nontheless people began to think that Reagan had spurred a recovery.

If you take a ball and drag it far under water it will begin to float upwards when you let it go. But it isn't flying, it's just stabilizing. Reagan called that stabilization flying, and Republicans saw the upward motion and believed him.

So Shwarzenegger (I really will have to learn to spell his name now) will get credit for doing jack, and the media will hype him. And the post that mentioned that the energy companies will allow the economy to recover now that they aren't trying to embarrass the Democrats nailed it. They started that with ENron trying to give Bush an issue against Clinton and Gore. Now they won, they can let the energy crisis go away, and they will get lots of tax breaks and drilling priviledges in return.

And California can become the new Texas. Yehaw.

15. Arnold is right.
Already law firms specializing in sexual harrassment and assault are flocking to Sacramento.
