ACTION: Write your newspaper, demand they drop PARADE magazine

The Hartford Courant recently began selling the Sunday newspaper on Saturday. They call it the "Early Sunday" edition. "Saturday's news with Sunday's features."

So today, I'm thumbing through the crap flyers, and there is our new Commander of the Joint Chiefs, Gen. Peter Pace, in glorious color, on the front of Parade Magazine, with the big-type quote "Our Fellow Citizens Are Right to Expect Our Military Will Act During A Disaster.

Well, I don't know how many of you realize that Parade is printed weeks in advance. This isn't "news." Yet somehow, the brand new Chair of the Joint Chiefs is on the cover the day after he's inducted, with a glaring headline referencing one of BushCo's key initiatives, the repeal of Posse Comitatus.

This is pure propaganda bullshit. What about that GAO outrage about BushCo's paid propagandizing? What the fuck is this shit?

Hey, General Pace...Our Fellow Citizens Are Right to Expect Our Press is Not A Paid PR Arm of the United States Government!

It's one thing to have all the fake letters from people curious to know about some has-been star's new movie which just happens to be released that week, but this is complete and total 100% propaganda.

Tell your newspaper you know why their circulation is dwindling...and that you'll help bring it to ZERO. Total BULLSHIT, Parade...or is that PRAVDA?

Seriously, this right wing puff piece has been faithfully delivered to the DeShazer home every Sunday as long as I can remember, which means about 1958. Except this year.

I've sworn off my local newspaper entirely. They don't report news, their editorial positions are completely whacked out, and I don't need it anymore.

The newspaper business is slowly strangling itself. I'm happy to help tighten the noose on corporate bullshit nooze passed off as truth.

column is the person who wrote the book "The Truth About Hillary" -- a book that bashes Hillary Clinton.
