Sorry: MURDOCH's rag NY Post requires a very intrusive registration (asks for DOB and income). I did it so you don't have to.

IS the New York Times' chief movie critic, A. O. "Tony" Scott, seeing right-wing bogeymen? "
The myth of a monolithically liberal Hollywood is dead," Scott wrote in a Sept. 25 piece noting Hollywood studios "have tried to strengthen their connection with religious and social conservatives," especially in the wake of Mel Gibson's stunning success with "The Passion of the Christ." Scott says
a Republican agenda is visible in everything from "Team America" to "The Island," the Michael Bay summer flop which, Scott says, "argues the Bush administration's position on stem cell research." Commentators like online movie biz columnist David Poland aren't so sure. "Put down the pipe, Tony," Poland advised.

MOORE MAKES HIMSELF SCARCE
WHERE is Michael Moore? A British journalist was stood up by the "Fahrenheit 9/11" director in the middle of Times Square after she advertised the proposed rendezvous in The Post in a last-ditch attempt to land an interview with the elusive documentarian. For months, Janet Street-Porter has tried to interview the so-called free-speech proponent for a documentary that will screen on London television next month. "I've tried everything," she said. "I've phoned his agent, been to his apartment, been to his house, left notes." But the man who made interviewing those with something to hide an art form has refused. She took out an ad in The Post last Saturday headlined, "Desperately Seeking Michael Moore," and invited him to meet her in Times Square at midday Monday. "Have you seen Michael Moore?" she was seen asking tourists at the designated time. Street-Porter, who writes a regular column for The Independent in the U.K., told The Post: "I don't know why he won't talk to me. It's not as if I come with a pre-conceived set of opinions." Moore did not return The Post's phone call and e-mail.
