I'll go first...

Bushco, because of this victory, will become more self assured and big headed...start making more big mistakes that continue to cause their demise......because they now think, there is nothing they can't hide or go after.......

Very defensive right now, and hunkered down, maybe this will bring out the ole cockyness we are used to, and lower the defenses.

B-)

4. Maybe something POSITIVE?
Possibly Arnie's brand of Republican politics will help bring a little tolerance on a number of issues. Say what we want about the guy {{holding my nose}} but there are a lot worse Repubs that could be governor of California than a pro-gay rights, pro-choice, pro-civil liberties stripe like A.S......I don't like the result, but maybe he can have an influence on their pitiful political party. Hearing him on TV the other night, he didn't sound to me like he was going to backtrack on his long held liberal positions on many social issues. I honestly worry though about the fiscal issues and what he brings to the table (Enron, etc.).....but, the subject in the thread was ""Let's start a list of all the good things that may happen because of CA" I would like to think SOMETHING positive for the people of California could come from it - they've been hurting long enough. Thinking positively......for the people. {{STILL holding my nose.}}}

5. Sorry, being a realist...
... I see nothing positive in these results. I see a further drift to the right in a state which has not gone Republican for a few years, and see Schwarzenegger as immediately building a political platform for Bush to run on. With California's electoral votes in pocket, Bush does not have to worry about the 2004 election--it's a very big prize.

People are not politically savvy, but this convinces me they are downright dumb. Just as in the 2002 elections, the Repugs will blast this as a towering triumph for the right, and play on that right into November, 2004.

The only hope anyone has is if Schwarzenegger stops listening to his handlers and tries to run things himself, and in doing so, California finds itself in even worse shape in 2004 than now. Since the Bushies are already planning to pump money into CA in the next year, so things won't seem so bad.

California has been had. If they don't realize it, neither will the rest of the country.

Sorry if it sounds elitist and vulgar, but CA just screwed the pooch in broad daylight on main street at rush hour.

They ought to be ashamed, but they don't even know why they should be....
