George Clooney’s “Good Night, and Good Luck”

The WaPo has a video interview of George Clooney about his upcoming movie, “Good Night and Good Luck.” It looks to be a powerful, must see film, given the correlation of current events to the movie. At a time where we have witnessed our media taking on the role of pushing propaganda to the American public, reflecting on similar circumstances in the past is welcomed.

Director George Clooney talks about his intentions in making “Good Night, and Good Luck” a movie chronicling the real-life conflict between CBS newsman Edward R. Murrow, played by David Strathairn, and Senator Joseph McCarthy during the early 1950s. During the CBS news program “See It Now,” Murrow challenged Senator McCarthy’s tactics in orchestrating a campaign to expose and punish suspected Communists within the U.S. government.

Clooney says in the interview, “Self censoring is a very dangerous place… tough questions have to be asked, always… of every administration, not just this one.”

10. Did anyone catch his interview with Diane Sawyer last night?

Her swooning took away from the interview. She kept asking all these bullshit questions about whether he preferred blondes or brunettes, Skinny or curvey... oy. Uhm, Diane, you're interviewing him for Dateline, not Tiger Beat. Yes, he has a nice villa on Lake Cuomo, and yes, there would have been an added bonus if he did do the interview while sitting in his bath tub... but enough with the "why don't you want to get married and procreate?" questions. Give the guy a break... ask serious questions and act like a serious reporter rather than an "E" correspondent. Please... when he finally meets me, then we'll get married but until then, leave the guy alone. ;)
