Black republican worries about stereotyping in Bennett's remarks
no, not about the stereotyping of blacks...

http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/Politics/story?id=1171385&page=2

<snip>

Robert George, an African-American, Republican editorial writer for the New York Post, agrees that Bennett's comments were not meant as racist. But he worries they feed into stereotypes of Republicans as insensitive. "His overall point about not making broad sociological claims and so forth, that was a legitimate point," George said. "But it seems to me someone with Bennett's intelligence … should know better the impact of his words and sort of thinking these things through before he speaks."

4. Black Repub should be worrying about what the hell he is doing in a party
that hates him and people who look like him.

And is dude saying that "aborting black babies would bring down the crime rate" is a legitimate point?

Edited on Thu Sep-29-05 10:05 PM by marmar
I just don't understand them. This party has actively opposed just about every measure to create fairness in society, and they still cozy up to it.

12. Me neither
I'm a Latina and I register voters sometimes. Whenever I see another person of color registering Republican, my blood pressure rises. I can't say anything because I'm supposed to be "non-partisan"

15. Amen, my sister...
I'm African American, and we have this relative from Arizona who visited for Thanksgiving and she started rambling on about how she voted for Bush and couldn't trust Kerry. A dead silence fell over the dinner table and she got hate-filled stares from everybody. She kept her politics to herself after that.

13. he's "blunt spoken"
according to Jake Tapper. :puke:

The blunt-spoken Bennett has ruffled feathers before, most recently in 2003 for revelations that despite his best-selling books about virtue and values, he is a high-rolling preferred customer at Las Vegas and Atlantic City casinos.

16. They should be worried
and they are no friend of black people. Dude basically said that we (black people) are better off dead. If my mother would just listen to her conscious and aborted me all would be right with the world. There is seriously something wrong with any black person that would apologize for this or defend this. In my eyes they are no better than this asshole. Any person that would defend this is out there but any BLACk person that would defend this needs an intervention.

29. A black liberal radio host
here in St Louis who used to smack down repubs for 4 hours every morning.
In an exchange on the Rodney King beating, a local white neo-caller tried to refute the host speaking to the racist element of this event with a statement similar to "but one of the officers at the scene was black"
The host replied to him that, " if a law was put forward tomorrow to make it legal to return to lynching blacks for no reason, there would still be some black folks who would vote for it."

Robert George, Armstrong Williams, Jesse Lee Petersen, Roy Innis are some examples of those who would get up early to get to the polls on that voting day.
