Roberts lack of Judiciary Experience
Is a losing argument. Non-Judges are the norm for CJ appointments (excluding evelvations which are even more rare)

This is a repost of something I posted on another thread, but I think it's important information to be armed with.

Of 16 previous Chief Justices:

5 were elevated from within SCOTUS
11 were appointed directly

Of the 11, six had zero judical experience when appointed:

John Marshall
Roger Taney
Salmon P. Chase
Morrison R. Waite
Melville W. Fuller
Earl Warren

The other 5:
John Jay - ? yrs NY State Supreme Court
Oliver Ellsworth - ? yrs CT State Superior Court
Willliam Howard Taft - ? yrs OH State Superior Court & Fed Appl Court
Fred M. Vinson - 5 yrs Fed Appl Court
Warren E. Burger ~13 yrs Fed Appl Court

3. No prob
I'm a SCOTUS watcher. It's sad they only get attention during the "glamour" cases. Can't wait for O'Connor to finsh her history of the SCOTUS book.

Burger's book "It Is So Ordered" was a good read.

2. Roberts is behind us now.
Do you have statistics for regular justices? That is the next battle.
