If you had voted for a candidate just 11 months ago...?
Would you be likely to turn against him in such a short period of time? Or would you be angry that your vote was being totally discredited and your candidate was going to be kicked out of office and replaced with someone with less than 50% of the vote in a recall? Perhaps much less than 50%? How would you feel? Would you be angry enough to go to the polls just as a statement that you do now want your vote stolen? How would you feel if you had invested your vote in a candidate just 11 months ago? What is the likelihood that you would turn against him?

I think that, if you feel this way, you should try to amend the recall provision of the state constitution. Until then, this is legal.

2. I didn't ask if you thought it was legal ??
I asked how would you feel if you had voted for the candidate just 11 months ago and now you were being robbed of that vote?

Why even elect a governor if some Issa guy with a lot of money can try to buy his way into the governorship and turn everything on its head?

California has now equated itself with Florida in terms of elections.

3. Pretty good
Believe it or not, most of us held our noses while voting for Davis in the last election. It was VERY hard to find people who actually liked him before this recall nonsense started, and I wasn't suprised at all when I heard that the Republicans were trying it. Around my own office in the last election, the joke was that we were being asked to choose between "Dumb & Dumber".

I think the LA Times put it best prior to the last election when they printed: "Anybody with a pulse could beat Grey Davis in an election. Too bad Bill Simon is DOA".

Basically, NOBODY thought Davis would win the last election, because most people felt that ANYBODY could beat Davis. Luckily, the Republicans managed to pick the most inept idiot with the worst campaign staff in California history to oppose him. I have to point out that, even then, Davis barely squeaked by.

I said months ago that the Democratic tactic was flawed. We SHOULD HAVE run more candidates. Bustamante was too left and too pro-immigrant to win a campaign this high profile. We NEEDED a left-moderate candidate, and we didn't get one.

Oh well, we'll take it back in the next election :-(

5. Xithras, I appreciate your points, but
if you hold an election and some guy with a lot of money comes along and tries to buy his way into the governorship, how can so many Californians roll over?

This lack of principle is very strange.
