I Saw Clark Speak Today: Ask me anything...
Edited on Tue Oct-07-03 07:42 PM by Catch22Dem
This is my first ask me anything thread, and I couldn't really articulate my thoughts on his speech, or his appearance, etc... But if you ask me, that will help me put something more cohesive together.

1. How many people were there? What topic? Where?
Were there questions?

5. Not sure how many
It was at a very small Transport Workers Union hall in Tulsa, Okla. Brief speech by Clark about why he's a Democrat and why he should be elected, then a Q & A with the union guys.

Let me tell you one thing beyond my answer: Guys, he's the real deal.

2. How was he?

7. He was great
I got to shake his hand. Very smooth skin. I'm confident he moisturizes. LOL. Yeah, as a heterosexual male, I can say he has a great deal of magnetism.

15. Cool
Looks like the Republicans will have another Rhodes Scholar from Arkansas with charisma to back it up with to deal with! I think someone is getting a very strong feeling of deja vu.

3. Where was the speech?
He's been all over the place. He'll do the debates in Phoenix on Thursday and then comes to San Francisco on Friday. I'll be there for that.

How was the speech?

9. Plenty of press
Edited on Tue Oct-07-03 07:50 PM by Catch22Dem
But I didn't get to see close up who they were. Of course we had our local affiliates there, but there were more cameras than just our locals, so I'm not sure who else was there.

ON EDIT: Oh yeah, and he was smooth as silk. Said all the right things. Got the union guys all fired up. :)

6. Was this his fundraiser in Tulsa?
He was supposed to be there Tuesday afternoon.

Memo to the Clark campaign: There is this major metropolitan area in the center of the state (Oklahoma City) that has nearly 1.2 million people in it. Perhaps a visit to said metro area is in order!

11. Not exactly
He toured the American Airlines maintenance facility then came to the union hall for the speech. The fund rasier is this evening at a house in Tulsa.

I know the 2600 Block of Terwilliger. Those are some BIG ASS houses. Shouldn't have any problem fitting everyone in.

12. No...
I was hoping for a jab or two, but he pretty much stuck to the topics that were near and dear to the union guys.

He praised the Local 514 for voting to cut their own pay in order to keep American Airlines in Tulsa. He promised he'd work to get those wages back for them.

He really knew his facts and figures and had them readily available. I've heard he's very meticulous about doing his homework. It shows, and the union guys were impressed.

BTW, I use "guys" as a gender non-specific term. Hope no one is offended.

14. Thanks for the answer
Good to know that he knows what he's talking about.

Apparently it doesn't mean much to voters anymore, but it will come in handy if he can win.

friend of Tom Clark since high school (Edison '59) and his dad Gail too.
You probably know Bill Page, he was my first flight instructor...maybe we should take this to DUmail...
