NBC just said there were about 100 pro-war demonstrators
It surprised me to hear them admit that, but what else could they say? :woohoo:

1. All right!
Does anyone know if this group considers itself pro-war, or if they identify themselves as pro-troop? Personally, I think "pro-war" fits them best.

2. I heard the same thing on KYW1060 AM news out of Philadelphia.
The actual story made it sound pretty pathetic, but while reading the initial headline at the top of the hour, the newsreader really emphasized the word "honoring" in the phrase "honoring the troops". Dick.

6. What could they say?
Well, they could say "You know what, you anti-war activists were right. There really are many more of you that there are of them. And we were wrong hyping up the war in Iraq. Oh yeah, and the "Bush is Right" song really sucked."

But I won't hold my breath.

18. They said
"they had jobs" implying that the ones there on Saturday didn't. Guess they didn't check their calendars - it was a SUNDAY. If more had wanted to be there, they would have been there.

26. LA Times hyped it as 1000:

LA Times is such a propaganda rag at times:

Crowd Turns Out to Defend War Effort
By Emma Vaughn, Times Staff Writer

WASHINGTON — Supporters of the war in Iraq, concerned that Saturday's antiwar demonstrations might hurt morale among U.S. troops, staged their own rally Sunday — taking digs at critics of the Bush administration, including Cindy Sheehan, who last month staged a vigil outside the president's ranch in Crawford, Texas.

"Our sons are there to try and defeat these evil ideologues," said Robert Hemenway, whose son, Navy Chief Petty Officer Ronald Hemenway, died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the Pentagon. "If we don't stand up for this country, then who will?"

Otherwise, he told the crowd of about 1,000, "our sons have died in vain."

A large patchwork American flag made by children of soldiers from Ft. Benning, Ga., was the backdrop to a stage where speakers hailed U.S. efforts in Iraq and denounced those who were calling for President Bush to bring the troops home now.

27. It was embarrassing. Painful to watch.
Most of the people in the small crowd were related to the speakers, or just curious tourists wanting to see the clown show!

31. I was there. There weren't even 200. I took pictures and will post...
them on Friday when I get them back. There were more people at camp Casey I took them with a film camera and am waiting for them to get put on CD. These were taken from all different angles and not those tight shots that make it look like there are more people than really are there.

I was lucky to catch them before I came back home on Sunday. There was some nonsense going around that these Pro-War people were calling themselves the "silent majority" and I had to go see it for myself. When I got there I almost couldn't believe how pitiful it was. It turned out that it was more like the "misinformed minority". The pictures will speak for themselves.

32. I'm glad I saw your post ... In a CNN article they said there were
500 pro war protesters on Sunday!!

The protest Monday followed a massive demonstration Saturday on the National Mall that drew a crowd of 100,000 or more, the largest such gathering in the capital since the war began in March 2003.

On Sunday, a rally supporting the war drew roughly 500 participants. Speakers included veterans of World War II and the war in Iraq, as well as family members of soldiers killed in Iraq.

http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/09/26/wardemonstrations.ap/index.html

Technically they're correct for Saturday. There were more than 100,000 there and I read that CNN reported 600,000. But to pad Sunday's pro-war protesters is really lame. I watched it on C-Span and if that was 500 protesters then I guess we had 5 times as many as was reported on Saturday!
