When you go to a rally, who do you represent?
Yourself or the rally organizers? Who speaks for you? Must you agree with everything that is said?

I represent myself and no one speaks for me but myself. As with politicians, you are not going to agree with them 100% unless you are the politician.

For such supposedly open-minded, nuanced thinkers, we have an awful lot of people around here making absolutist, black-and-white arguments.

1. I represent what this country USED to be and what it COULD be again
if we change things around. I dont represent the sponsors, the politicians or their causes. I represnt the American populace.

18. That was an excellent way to start!
Wasn't it awesome. I remember my first time. I was really nervous, but then when you get swallowed up in a sea of like-minded people, you know you are a part of something bigger than yourself.

So, what spurred you to attend? Did you travel far? What were some of the highlights for you?

20. Bu$hCo. spurred me to attend. This criminal, inept, incompetent, immoral
THUG adminiatration spurred me to attend. I came from Philadelphia so it wasnt too far. I enjoyed everything about the day. The march was my favorite part, just being engulfed by 300,000 other people WHO ALL THOUGHT THE SAME AS I DID was a wonderful, powerful feeling.

2. I represent myself and my friends who aren't activists
who agree with me and are thankful I march .

I represent the senior citizens and disabled people
who can't walk the SF hills .

I represent that lady on Bart who thanked me on
her way to work .

6. I like your answer
I think a lot of people are counting on us to be out there in the streets. If you look at the recent poll numbers, we are the true silent majority.

We just have to stop being so silent and demand they listen to us.

35. It was OK
but the crowd was smaller than I would have like to have seen. There were probably 100 max and that is being generous.

I'm still glad I went. It's a small part of a big picture. Every little bit helps the cause.

Are there protests where you live? There's nothing like standing with people who share a common cause.

Here is my baby sister with myself and Peyton in Sicily last month. And she INSISTED she looked horrible in pink. I think she looks beautiful. Pink the color of innocence and love.

Just a bit south of Catania right under Mt Etna. Europe's largest active volcano. La Dolce Vita. Raising my baby girl aged four while her brother my first child aged 24 is serving with the Marines in Ramadi. I haven't heard from him in 13 days and I am a bit manic right now.

Me on Etna!

you actually brought a Barcolounger and planted yourself in it with a sign saying just that. You would have the best seat in the house anyway.

I attended yesterday were pretty much on the same page. We were anti-war and pro-impeachment of Bush.

24. I represent myself and my family, but I'm there with Code Pink.
If I'm gonna put myself out there, I'm gonna get as much attention as I can.

Women for Peace. That's what I am, and if pink clashes with my L'Oreal ColorSpa #13 hair, it just shows that I'm willing to sacrifice my vanity for what I believe in.

27. Whatever CAUSE TheRally Is For. If It's An Anti-War Rally,
then I'm representing that issue.

Not Mumia, Cuba, or Korea.

And in order not to harm that Issue's presence in the public's Consciousness, I do my best to appear relatively neat and orderly.

29. Thank you for helping to make my point
When you attend a rally, it's not guilt be association.

And, if that's still not enough, organize your own rally and you can control those who attend and who speak.

messages had no business being there.

33. So, how's that rally
you are organizing going?

And the tens of thousands of people who got off their butts and did something certainly did not need your insults.

You don't want to do it, fine. But why criticize those who did? So much for being on the same side.
