Email Meet the Press to voice your outrage over Russert's tactics
That was by far the most disgusting thing I've ever seen on that show. To see Tim Russert, a beltway elitist who lives in a mansion with running water and electricity, trying to score political points for the President by nitpicking a death based on unreliable information from Powerline Blog (who also said the Schiavo memos were fake) is absolutely disgusting.

It's time that we call them on their gross unprofessionalim and cold-hearted tactics. Their information was unreliable and their tactics were disgusting. MSNBC deserves a lot of heat as well for publishing this article.

1. I already did
Congratulations Mr. Russert, you may have just become the most hated man in America. What you TRIED to do to Mr. Broussard was shameful. I'd go as far as to say it was evil. He pegged you right - blackhearted. And the really tragic thing is I look at the men you're trying to protect and they are just so not worth the loss of your soul.

2. No, no, no
Russert was perfect, and was made a perfect ass, along with all those who think along similar lines. I think we should give them some more rope.

3. He has totally jumped the shark
He's flailing--Jeez, I would have LOVED to be a fly on the wall in that Grand Jury room.

I wonder how lawyered up he is??? He just may have to sell that new home on the Vineyard, and take the kid out of Boston College and send him to Bunker Hill Community College instead....

He is beyond repulsive, and should be ashamed, and I agree that we need to bitch out NBC--time to make MEET THE PRESS back into a show where we MEET THE PRESS, not Mr. GOP Potatohead.

5. i stopped watching MTP, also the ABC Sunday talk Show,WolfBlitzer at any
time, not to mention the Faux Network etc... so I am not sure that I understand what it is that Little Russert did this time...however, I've been outraged at Little Russert (whose father used to push a broom in New York City) and his inflated cojones for a long time now.

This, while slightly, or completely off-topic, is the e-mail i sent MTP yesterday.

"what is the reason MTP is choosing to ignore the MASSIVE 9/24/05 march on the white house and protest against the iraq war? and why isn’t MTP having some of the leaders of the movements against the war speaking live on MTP about the resounding voices raised in WASHINGTON DC on 9/24th.

I SUPPOSE DEAR TIMMY RUSSERT, SMALL RUSSERT THAT HE IS, doesn’t care about seeing anyone else’s kids killed for oil—as long as it is none of his kids and his pockets are lined with silver dollars by bushco and his rover boy."

8. oh, I did!
I explained that he is no longer up to the responsibility. If his agenda is dictated by Rove, then maybe a switch in payroll is needed. I also told him that his on air behavior is one of someone as ethically challenged as the bus@# adminsitration. Ialso noted that I have met the press, and they are as morally bankrupt as the administration.
I have had it with the press. I say we boycott advertisers buying time (OUR TIME BTW!) on shows that propogate this crap.
Seriously, how hard is it to make the message. Economic impact is what gets them, they only know the color green. I say when they recognize the colors red white and blue, they get our business.
Anyone interested?

It is hard to be outraged on someone else's say so. I can generate my own outrage if I know better what he said.

Mr. Russert, judging by his performance today, has "rude" down to an art form. You might want to consider sending him to a "Miss Manners" 12 step help program, for those who have lost their sense of decency.

edited to explain the "you" addresses the program/network, not the you of DU.

13. Done.
Here's my letter:

It's one thing to play "gotcha" journalism with a seasoned political pol, but Russert's behavior on MTP this morning with Jefferson Parish President Broussard was nothing short of shameful. What once was a grand and free press in this country has become a third-world style semi-official news agency.

The former head of FEMA was an incompetent toady with no experience in emergency management. There is your scandal. Stick to the facts. Mr. Broussard and other local providers are not the villains here. No - there is not blame to go around equally. The blame goes unequally according to size and capability and responsiveness.

It appears that MTP is a mouthpiece of an administration that disingenuously would like to claim not to play the "blame game," and then foist off all responsibility upon the small and weak.

Keep carrying water for them if you like. I will not watch your program.

14. I e-mailed him this...
which is not so great a read...but I hope he get's tons of e-mails.

-----------------------------

Dear Meet the Press and Mr. Russert,

Mr. Russert's bullying, Grand Inquistor grilling of AARON BROUSSARD on MTP today was a low point in television history for me.

Maybe if Mr. Russert would get off his duff and get out there to New Orleans and see what it's like to live down there with no services and destruction everywhere he could learn to have some compassion for his fellow Americans in their time of need.

I will not be watching Mr. Russert's MTP again. I had stopped watching when all he did was Push the Republican Agenda and ignored all the information that there were no WMD in Iraq. His constant promotion of Bush and the Republicans was bordering on propaganda.

But, in the last few weeks I did tune back in to MTP, hoping the press had finally awakened after Katrina Disaster.

Sadly there's no hope for the Buffoonish, Boorish Mr. Russert and his producers who insist on his ill informed pomposity.

Sincerely,
XXXXXXX

16. My email
Dear Mr. Russert:

You have sunk to a new low in trying to discredit Mr. Broussard and his account of his staff members plight for his mother. It proved to me once and for all what a shill you are for President Bush and his mismanaged, foresaken administration. You kept trying to get Mr. Broussard to place the blame in other places and not squarely in President Bush's lap, where much of it belongs. He strummed guitar while New Orleans sank! Northcom was waiting from the day Katrina hit Florida for Bush's orders to assist with New Orleans. This has been discussed by the Admiral in charge of Northcom and a Lt. Col. directly under him (in a BBC interview). Have you no shame Mr. Russert? Don't you have a single ounce of true Patriotism in your body? To try to cover-up negligent homicide by attacking a messenger is sickening. How do you sleep at night?

18. Feeling kind of alone here ...
I watched Mr. Broussard's initial interview on MTP. I was nearly moved to tears listening to him and it haunted me for the rest of the day. By the next day I started to wonder about Mr. Broussard's accounting of the incident. The city had virtually NO communications. Landlines were down, cell phones weren't connecting and even satellite phones weren't getting the job done. I wondered how a person in a nursing home, in need of rescue, was able to get a phone call out every single day.

I was actually glad that Russert invited him back to offer further clarification of what really happened. I was satisfied with his explanation that he was only repeating what his employees told him. I thought Mr. Broussard held his own and came off sounding very credible today. I'm glad he had the opportunity to set the record straight.

22. Here's my email...not that he'll read it what with all the eclairs he has
a date with.

Hey Russert,
Re: Your interview with Jefferson Parish President Broussard, your dad didn't raise you to pick on people that have NOTHING so you can score points with that incompetent, miserable failure who occupies the White House.
My opinion of you as always been low, but you hit rock bottom today.
Here's to Bush's impeachment and your eventual failure as a so called journalist.
PS Instead of sitting in your mansion, sleeping on clean sheets, eating fatty foods, get your butt to LA and help someone.

23. From what I read on crooksandliars..
..Boussard responded Very Well, himself, to the GARGOYLE..big little timmy!

"Listen, sir, somebody wants to nitpick a man's tragic loss of a mother because she was abandoned in a nursing home? Are you kidding? What kind of sick mind, what kind of black-hearted people want to nitpick a man's mother's death? They just buried Eva last week. I was there at the wake. Are you kidding me? That wasn't a box of Cheerios they buried last week."

24. My e-mail
Dear Meet the Press and Mr. Russert,

Mr. Russert, the man who wore a Bush/Cheney button on the underside of his lapel during the last election, may as well come on out and put it on where we all can see it. We know it's there in his heart anyway. It's obvious. Mr. Russert's treatment of Mr. Aaron Broussard was about as horrendous a display of bullying and cheap tactics as I've ever seen on a television "news" program.

Mr. Broussard was on-point when he challenged Mr. Russert to get out of his comfy surroundings and see the hell these poor people were subjected to. Perhaps it would help Mr. Russert understand how desperate these people are, and how the federal (YES FEDERAL) government dropped the ball big time.

I guess I've been a fool giving Meet the Press time in my viewing schedule. Mr. Russert is a shill for the Bush administration, and it's obvious nothing will change that.

Will Mr. Russert be on the bottom of the pile when this Republican administration falls, or is it possible that for one moment he might actually listen to his conscience and stand up for the truth?

I'm not holding my breath.

Sincerely,

25. Thank you!
My e-mail:

Mr. Russert,

I know that you’re a lawyer, but even this layperson knows a good lawyer knows not to ask questions without first doing one’s homework. If you had done your homework, you would have known more about Aaron Broussard’s good character & wouldn’t have succumbed to White House pressure to attack Mr. Broussard at your own expense.

I live in a neighboring parish of Mr. Broussard’s, have known of his good public service for many years, & I can tell you that he is a man of honor & that he calls them like he sees them. And I'm proud to say that he’s certainly not cut from the same cloth as those politicians who take Karl Rove’s advice.

Your poor judgment in attacking him today, in regard to both subject matter & timing, was successful only in exposing the media’s eagerness in deflecting any blame toward this inept White House administration at any cost. That dog doesn’t wag any more. If you care about your credibility, you might want to check Bush’s low approval ratings, consistently below average since he was...ahem..."elected". (There's your real story -- how about shedding some light on Ohio's Ken Blackwell?)

I hope the entire nation watches this edition of "Meet the Press".

26. Tim Russert is just a sobered up Rush Limbaugh,
I've said it all along. He just makes a good effort to look less partisian to sucker people into believing he is evenhanded. In an election year he really campaigns for the GOP, yet he will deny it to high heaven.
