Why the righties really hate Cindy Sheehan
The simple truth is they hate her because they have done their damnedest to make this war sanitary and keep it out of the psyche of the public at large. They even went so far as to bar people from seeing flag-draped coffins of our fallen come home.

The more it can be ignored, the less likely anyone is going to notice this entire mess was not only built on a pack of lies and disinformation that was only successful because our country was still wounded from the attacks on 9/11, but because nearly every single prediction the right wing gave about Iraq (WMD, cakewalk, flowers and kisses) turned out to be untrue.

They don't want the people aware of the nearly 2000 soldiers who have died in Iraq, the hundreds of billions of dollars, the atrocity that was Abu Gharib, and the instability we have wrought in the region as well has the thousands more soldiers wounded and the thousands of innocent civilians who got killed by this misadventure, including some in our own backyard because so much of our National Guard and it's equipment is in Iraq instead of being stateside (which is where the National Guard is supposed to be, but someone forgot to tell the right).

And along comes Cindy Sheehan to put a face to this farce of a war and challenging the lies. Someone who has made a REAL SACRIFICE (unlike the pukes borrowing the money to wage war so they don't have to give up their tax cuts).

So Cindy becomes the object of their scorn and ridicule and anger and hatred because they know, deep down inside the only thing she is doing is holding a mirror up to Bush administration and his supporters and they are responding with the rage of Caliban at seeing their own reflection in the glass.

And the fact is for once in their miserable lives the neocons can't blame the democrats for everything because the republicans control BOTH houses of Congress and the White House.

They hate her because she has broken the appalling silence that has allowed people to carry on as if our servicemen and women were not over in Iraq risking their necks day after day in a conflict that we had no reason to involve ourselves in to begin with.

They can't stand her because she has the guts to stand up to the bullying tactics of the right and every single time she comes out smelling like a rose and the Hannitys and Limbaughs show just how far they will stoop to smear someone who disagrees with them, including a woman who lost more than most will ever imagine for this ill-advised war.

They hate her because deep down they know she deserves the answers she seeks and know that if this were a democratic president who mislead the country into a war, they'd be clamoring for his impeachment, but instead since he's "one of their own" they prefer to pretend like accountability doesn't matter.

Personally, I don't understand how the republicans can even pretend to have any form of accountability. Even assuming Bush and his ilk were mislead by the intelligence (which is laughable), what form of accountability is it that awards the man in charge of the organization that provided faulty intelligence that led to the death of thousands of US soldier, thousands more injured, and caused us to waste hundreds of billions of tax dollars by giving that man the MEDAL OF FREEDOM?????

That's accountability? Cindy is just asking the questions that are in the back of the minds of many Americans and made it okay for the average person to stand up and question this war without having their patriotism and love of this country called into question.

And for that, the kool-aid drinking warmongering righties hate her like poison.

1. You cut to the core of the issue.
:yourock:

She is a genuine hero. This is why the evil ones have to spit on her. They can't stand the light of the truth.

14. And she looks like THEM but surprise surprise

she doesn't act like them.

Blonde hair, blue eyes and apple pie in appearance.

They see the face of their moms, sisters, cousins, wives when they look at her.

She is not Jane, wild movie star, Fonda or Maxine Waters.

She is them but she is NOT them.

Cindy scares the hell out of them and that makes her all the more powerful.

2. Wonderful little rant.
That makes me think of a dark Gollum-like creature hiding under the ground, screaming at the light (truth) that might filter through.

4. In a nutshell: cowardly, brainwashed twerps.
They love to watch war on tv. Seeing the US dominate a 3rd world country is the only source of pride in their miserable lives. They love to be validated in thier beliefs so they wallow in Fox News propaganda and never question the corporate leaders. They are unwitting tools of the corporate elite.

The rulers of the corporate cabal laugh at these fools.

8. I think it's also that they can't stand bold, brave women
Edited on Sat Sep-24-05 09:12 PM by Montauk6
Think about it, how many MEN have gotten so in-your-face with * over the Iraq War? Like Jesse The Body said on Malloy's program, a couple of weeks ago, when you speak out, "you get hammered." And, to my knowledge, on one's gotten hammered the way Sheehan has these past few months. In fact, only two people come to mind in comparison: Hillary Clinton and Jane Fonda. No, make that three: Barbara Lee.

10. Amy Goodman was hosting the coverage on LinkTV...
She mentioned that if Iraq got the real news coverage that hurricane Katrina did, people could make an informed decision about what's going on in Iraq.

The thousands of people behind her were all aware, but they know better than to trust the mainstream media.

Just imagine if Iraq got one week of wall to wall coverage, through unfiltered lenses on all media outlets.

Shit would change. We might not leave, but policies would change.

11. ahhh...thank you DU
Always nice to find other like minded people when I am feeling so alone. Excellent points, especially how the right wants everyone to go on with their lives. I feel for every family that has lost a loved one.

Peace

15. She shows them that their delusions are just that...
...DELUSIONS !!! They are suppose to be "making their own reality" but the real world keeps getting in the way.

Cindy is forcing them to see that they can not just SAY something and make it true. Reminds me of some alcoholics I know...

...say that's a thought !!!

16. Damn, Sam - You done summed it up!
Exactly! Too, I think they just have an undying hatred for women. They are frightened of the power that women wield, and they realize that the world would function better if the women were in charge. The hand that rocks the cradle holds the cards.

17. let's do it together
Being a woman, I'd love to agree with you, but I can't. There are special people in the world, some are gals, some are guys, and good leadership needs the fizz created by at least the 2 commonest sexes working together.

18. I think they hate her because they cannot bring themself to hate the
chimp. They cannot admit they have been LIED to, that would make THEM look like patsies, so instead, they are shooting the messenger who delivers the bitter truth.

20. Time to bring this back.
It really has a point in light of this weeks events. I wrote this around the 15-16th of august, when Cindy was still in Crawford.

A Lady stands alone
And faces down the night
She will not sit or sleep
While putting up her fight
Her will is overwhelming
Her courage, it compels
For not a single moment
Does she forget the ones who fell.

The ones who come to visit
To her their stories tell;
Sent to a place of fire
From heaven into hell.
They’ve heard the shots ‘a-ringing
They’ve had to drop and roll
But the hardest sound of all
Is the lonely church bell’s toll.

‘Why did they have to do this,
Leave their freedom and their lives?
Were they sent there for a truth,
Or was it all just lies?’
She wants to know the answer
And so she won’t back down;
She’s camping out in Crawford
Until she meets that clown.

From a ditch she called out ‘Why?’
He was in that ranch inside.
He heard the lady’s words,
And did his best to hide.
No longer could it last,
No longer could it go.
That night he had to face her
She simply had to know.

She asked him all her questions,
He stopped and said ‘Now, whoa –
You’ve asked a lot of things,
But who else wants to know?’
She looked behind her shoulder,
And to her great surprise,
Behind her there were millions
A light to fill the skies.

‘That light is with me, George.
It’s very strong and bright.
This time you must be honest,
Or we’ll bring it all to light.’
He didn’t know what to say
His face was filled with fright.
For a simple little lady
Brought down his world that night.

The lady stood alone
And called out to the light:
‘Thank you so for helping,
to stave away the night.’
And in that perfect moment,
The light to her replied:
‘No – Thank you, Cindy.
You’ve made it turn out right.’
