MULTAN, Pakistan - Two men killed their sister and her suspected lover by slitting their throats in eastern Pakistan, while another woman was killed by a relative in a separate honor killing for refusing to marry a man chosen by her family, police said on Saturday.

The brothers suspected their 25-year-old married sister, identified only as Shamim, of having an affair with the man.

On Friday, the brothers invited Shamim’s suspected lover to their home in Shujjabad, a village near Multan, a major city in eastern Pakistan, where he allegedly confessed to having a relationship with the woman, local police official Malik Bashir said.

The two men, using a large kitchen knife, then allegedly killed the man, identified as Mohamed Rafiq, and their sister.

2. They could at least put the word "honor" in quotes.
Makes me cringe, when it's referred to so matter-of-factly.

Kind of the way "ethnic cleansing" has entered the lexicon.

A repugnant euphemism for genocidal slaughter... yet some people -- even alleged "news" reporters -- toss it about as casually as talking about the weather.

Fuckups.

:grr: :grr: :grr:

3. Welcome to the world of our "allies"
This is a common occurence in Pakistan, our valued "ally" in the "war on terra." We send gobs and gobs of money and weapons to these guys. Honor killings happen all the time, most aren't even reported. Tihs is the kinda state we're paying to set up in Iraq too.

7. Disgusting beyond words...
...there was a move afoot to export a "milder" version of that kind of "law" to Canada recently, but from what I've been given to understand it's a no go with our friends to the North.

I simply can't understand the mentality.
