**** Protest Warriors at the DC March ***

These guys were hanging out along Penn. Ave yelling super offensive stuff. I heard one guy screaming "get a f**king job you hippies, I'm tired of paying for your usless welfare programs..." Most people were just walking by giving the peace signs. I must admit, I had to stop and have a chuckle at these guys. Just in the 10 seconds I paused, one of the especially rabid anti-protest protesters screamed out that my girlfriend looked like she was in grade school, then indicated I was a lefty pedophile. What this had to do with anything I can't figure out, but just reinforces my convivtion that these yahoos are foolish morons.

Anyone else run into these guys?

know who they were affiliated with. We just shouted back that they should go enlist if they like the war that much.

I know a couple personally, they are complete idiots, devoid of logic and critical thinking.

An actual exchange with one of them last year:

We were ATTEMPTING to discuss eduction financing, R v D. After less than two minutes, this guy actually says: "Oh, you liberal. You and Michale Moore would make a great gay couple, why don't you get married?'

Without a beat I replied "I'm give him a hummer on the courthouse steps if you can get that fascist asshole you worship to let me!!!"

End of debate. He had no reply.

5. Bingo . . . I used to argue with one on another forum, he used to brag

about the size of his biceps, admitted to taking steroids (and got pissed when anyone mentioned that they were illegal), came up with excuses why he couldn't join the militar . . . first it was because of kidney problems, then it was his vision, then his recruiter had gotten him an exemption and he was going in a few months later, then he was still there after that time and it was his kidney again.

He liked 20 ways about it.

Then, at the rallys back in March, I encountered another one and asked him why he hadn't joined . . . his first reponse? "Why haven't you?" I told him I had and I'd served 8 years in the Army. He mumbled for a few seconds and said "I just joined the other day." To which I replied "Well, why didn't you join long ago if you supported the war so much?" The capper was when he said "Because I didn't turn 19 until last week."

I started laughing my ass off and said . . . "Since when do you need to be 19 to join the military? I joined with parental consent when I was 17. You can join without at 18. So where the hell have you been?"

He just looked at the ground and wouldn't talk after that.

9. Hehehe, it was an interesting exchange to say the least.

The funniest part was I could tell by looking at the kid (and by his attitude) that he wouldn't last 5 minutes in basic training without being singled out as trouble by a drill sergeant, they would have made his life hell just for the fun of it.

He was just the type of kid with too small of a body and too big of a mouth (combined with the cocky attitude) that the drill sergeants just love to torment. :)

Groups like them and people like Pat "We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability" Robertson and Barbara "So many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them." Bush need to be the face of the republican party.

6. They're so immature

They say stuff it seems to get people upset so they can start a fight and then blame it on us. It's good nobody engages them. The best thing to do is ignore. They're acting like little children so treat them like children.

...was yelled by Freeper-types at my 87 year-old mother two weeks ago when she joined our local county seat protest against Bush and in support of NOLA.

She yelled back, "I'm 87 years old and no one will hire me!"

10. I always like it when it's a Saturday, they're yelling at someone to get

a job, when they are obviously able to show up themselves instead of being at work.

Do they even think about how idiotic it sounds when someone who isn't working yells at someone else to get a job?

11. Were these the idiots with the "trust Jesus" sign? About 4 or 5

of them? If so, everyone just gave them peace signs. Those were the only counter-protesters we saw, but we were on the right side of the march, and would have missed anyone screaming from the left side.

All the hippies I know are grandparents. They moved up to Maine in the early '70's to raise llamas, grow a little dope, and get away from The Man. They're the backbone of the town library, and the recycling program.
