Doesn't the fact that the federal response was better...
with Rita, point out how disastrous their response was with Katrina, and the fact that they were supposed to be the point people in regards to relief efforts?

1. Yup...it took them one major disaster and the attendant fuck-up PLUS
advance notice of Rita to allow them to get their act together!

They deserve NO Kudos for anything related to Rita. None.

6. The response to Rita was bound to be better than the response
to Katrina....

Rita was gunning for TEXAS.

Can't have that now.

2. Yep, and they are hoping we won't notice and compare.
I think they're wrong about that.

5. the people i am sheltered with are still blaming the local
officials for the NO mess. they keep making comments about how stuff was better here because "the right people" were in command. i don't know what they mean and i am too tired, pissed about the whole horrible evacuation and grateful for their help to comment.

7. Also with hurricane Rita....
as opposed to "poor niggers and white trash", it was a bunch of white suburbanite asses hanging in the balance, so the administration HAD to look like they were doing SOMETHING...so WHAT if gas stations ran out of gas (with the few still having it charging $5 a gallon) and banks ran out of money....so WHAT if it took Texas damn near forever to open up all lanes on the highway so people could get out...so WHAT if Houston mayor Bill White basically said the federal government wasn't going to help...so WHAT if the rough-and-tumble fake cowboy ran like a scalded dog to hide out at NORAD, and only NOW is going down there, after the "All-Clear" has been sounded?
