1. Now now...
they can't let your lying eyes get in the way of their lies about low attendance in the newspapers on Monday.

10. Valid point, however...
It is a fact that the pre-war protests were downplayed, time and time again. Had they been more honest, it is possible that more would have supported not going into the damn war, so we retain the right to suggest they are playing camera tricks again, and to be suspect about the coverage. That does not make us whiners or quibblers or anything else.

2. In the last hour they've panned the crowd only once.
I first tuned in and I thought there were barely 2000 people there. Now that I've seen the webcam, there are a lot more than that.

6. Sometimes tight shots are better.
I remember seeing one pic of Cindy and protestors. Looked like a lot. Then I saw the uncropped version: those in the tight shot were all there were.

(Same for one shot in Crawford: the closeup showed a tender moment of Cindy and was it Sharpton? on their knees, mourning. The uncropped shot showed this tender moment shared by many reporters tightly clustered around them, on both sides and behind them, with a virtual ceiling of boom mics hovering just over their heads. You know it took more than a few seconds for them to organize that unscripted moment of sorrow.)

http://www.trafficland.com/findacam/trafficvideo.php?uid=0&map=142, nicely provided by pitohui, shows a fair number of people, more than 2k. Compare the 15th and 17th street intersection shots with Constitution.

7. Tight shots from far away make crowds look bigger.
Longer lenses compress distances.

9. i'm just pissed
this is going completely unnoticed by the great mass of this country, especially with the hurricane coverage. NOT ONE person where I work knew about this yesterday...of course they do now:P

11. A speaker mentioned the thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands
And C-SPAN cut to a low shot that had a patch of grass and dirt, with a few people standing around it.

Shameful.

Look off into the distance. The crowd is huge!

eta: oddly enough (she said, her voice dripping with :sarcasm:), other nearby cameras on 15th seem to be down.
