Laugh All You Like About Weather Control.
Go ahead and whistle past that graveyard. Scoff about the weather guy in Idaho who thinks that Katrina was engineered by the Japanese as revenge for Hiroshima. Hold him up to ridicule and jeer at his tinfoil if it makes you feel better, for you are running out of time.

If Senator Kay Hutchison (R-Texas) has her way, a government bureau of Weather Modification will be formed on October 1, 2005.

If you really want to talk about proof and backup and about how the "tinfoilers" have gone right over the edge, go look up S 517, which was introduced in the Senate of the United States of America on March 3 of this year. You can read it all here.

Look at what our "elected representatives" have been up to in the name of The People and tell me that there's not something going on in the skies right over your head. I anxiously await your carefully-considered replies.

17. The weather is being "played with", for sure. Just not in an intelligent
way, as far as we know. We're playing with it indirectly and stupidly, like a kid idly flipping switches in a reactor control room.

Wanting to do something and actually being able to do something are two greatly different things.

I admit that the science that could lead to such a thing is far over my head, but I do find it very intriguing and worth discussing.

8. You made a new joke I've not heard before
You mentioned a "weather guy in Idaho who thinks that Katrina was engineered by the Japanese as revenge for Hiroshima"!

Well, if that is your evidence, I do scoff.

I know you haven't done a calculation of the energies involved in a hurricane. Kay Hutchison is a Republican and I know she hasn't done a calculation of the energies involved either.

14. We're beginning to get to the point where we can apply enough
computes to the problem, but I'd think mere predictive software is easily ten years away even given a manhattan-project urgency and funding.

I can't imagine how one might go about actually controlling the weather--there are so many factors that interact. It would need some sort of chaotic pushbutton, and I'd be mogadored to learn that anyone's identified it/one yet (which is why I don't think much of that meteo guy's thesis).

21. There's a lot of unaccounted-for budget money, it's true, but I don't
think it can be demonstrated that it's anything resembling half the total. Mostly because we already know in general what's eating half the total: the MIC. They can, and do, hide a lot of secret slush funds in there, but it totals maybe in the tens of billions (which is disgusting enough!) not the hundreds.

25. There's A Story Around About Tricky Accounting...
involving HUD and other civil programs that suggests some really serious money is missing. I don't have a link handy, but it was on the board a month ago or so.

It was written by a fellow who doesn't have much credibility. But, it had a certain ring of truth and got me thinking.

I just try to keep an open mind.

22. I would laugh except that conspiracy fantasies are usually built on bits
or torrents of tragedy.

Weather control? Of course we have weather control. AS A PLANET. The tinfoil bullshit about "chem-trails" and other such nonsense is laughably short-sighted.

The only real weather control is billions of humans taking more than their share and disrupting the balance of nature in greed.

31. The problem is the amount of energy needed, absent a chaotic pushbutton
To me, Cohen's statement was just budgetary scaremongering. The idea that some nation, much less a group of smaller size, has found a way to manipulate in a well-controlled way the levels of energy that create weather....

What was the energy output of Katrina all by itself, compared to the biggest hydrogen bomb that's ever been detonated? I have no idea, but it wouldn't surprise me to learn that Katrina represented hundreds or even thousands of such bombs.

26. Bread and circuses
The powers that be always love to placate and distract the masses. Weather control and other looney tune conspiracy theories fall into the category of circuses and are much beloved by Rovians because people who are smart but not wise spin their wheels chasing phantasms. If those same people were wise, they would focus on reality and make a lot of trouble for Rovians.

Calculate the energies involved.

38. The problem is that all mammals (at least) are pattern-matchers
We live or die by pattern-matching, it's genetically inbuilt. It's so important for us to find patterns that we find them where they don't really exist, or exist only as an artifact of how our perceptual systems process energy.

Saying 'here's a pattern so there must be someone doing the creating of it' is exactly as arse-backwards as 'creation science'.
