Even the GOP has had it with W's wild spending.

With all the pitfalls President Bush has navigated in five tumultuous years, the one worry he has rarely confronted is rebellion in his own ranks. But House Republicans, his rock, are increasingly restive about the effect that the president’s expansive plans for rebuilding the Gulf Coast could have on the nation’s already massive budget deficits.

In his Katrina policy the president is telling Democrats, "You can't possibly outspend me. Go ahead, try. By the time this is over Dennis Kucinich will be crying uncle, Bernie Sanders will be screaming about pork."

That's what's behind Mr. Bush's huge, comforting and boondogglish plan to spend $200 billion or $100 billion or whatever--"whatever it takes"--on Katrina's aftermath. And, I suppose, tomorrow's hurricane aftermath.

Postpone the new Medicare prescription-drug benefit for a year to save $30.8 billion. Repeal funding for a $223 million "bridge to nowhere" that would serve 50 people in Alaska. Allow President Bush's tax cuts to expire. Sell bonds similar to World War II's Liberty Bonds.

2. To junior it's like Monopoly money...play the game tonight
and win or lose you still wake up on clean silk sheets in the morning. Nothing will change for him or his family.

3. I hope everyone sees what the got when they voted for Bush
The idiot has pissed away our greatness and economic resilience on a fool's errand. Where once we could have weathered all storms, now we'll slash the hell out of all social programs just to keep functioning on the level of a banana republic.

And what is the ONE area that not only will not see any cuts, but will see an increase in funding? The military-industral complex. America can no longer afford to keep feeding the gaping maw of the so-called "defense" industry. The one option that could save us is not even on the table. Yet.

4. They will cut school lunches or some other good programs ...
to save money. They spent the government into oblivion. Their plan is right on schedule.

5. Nobody gives the CIA director's son less than a C, even in an MBA.
When Bush went through and got the MBA with the "gentleman's C", his father was director of the CIA. What professor would feel comfortable giving Shrub Bush anything less than a C?
