A person must be 36 years old in order to run for president.

On edit: Maybe Will Pitt's old enough!

15. Ummm
The originator of the term, Doug Coupland, the author of the book "Generation X", was born in 1963.

4. It'll be quite a while...
... we've got a couple loooong decades of baby-boomer rule to look forward to first. As somebody who is a member of that tiny demographic slice sandwiched between the 'X-ers' and the Boomers, let me tell you that following the Boomers through life has been like walking through a pristine alpine meadow about 6 hours behind a herd of 100,000 sheep. Everything's eaten down to a nub and there's dust and there's crap all over the place. :hangover:

7. Sing it, brother!
...or sister, whichever is appropriate.

Generation Jones, reporting in.

If you were born between 1954 and 1965, ask yourself this question: "Do I feel like a member of The Baby Boom Generation, Generation X, or neither?" Ask other people of this age which of the two generations they feel a part of. You will quickly find that the vast majority of people in this age group do not feel like Boomers or Xers.

5. 2008? Perhaps but I doubt it. 2012? Better.
Most likely is 2016.

I'm an older X'er, and currently 35, and I'd be 48/49 right around then.

There are still waves of Boomers to get past over these next two cycles...They still haven't shot their proverbial "load" yet politically.

8. 2012 is probably the earliest
Your oldest members would be in the mid to late 40's by then
and, of course, you would need a young hot shot candidate to
emerge.

I'm a baby boomer (and, yes, in fact it is all about me) and
Clinton was the first of my generation to get nominated (I was
44 at the time).

9. Since most of the candidates running now are 50+
That would make 2016 or 2020 the most realistic guess. Unless one starts in politics at a tender age (mid 20s), they wouldn't have much of a record before age 45.

10. Speaking as a Boomer ....
All I can say is not soon enough. We boomers are the cause of the current spate of woes. Given our utterly abysmal record thus far, I think the best thing to do is pronounce ourselves incapable of effective leadership and hand the reins over to the next generation.

Bring on the 4th Turning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11. As someone who is in between the generations
it will be a while before an Xer will be president. They only reached the age that they are eligible in the last couple of years. I was born in 1964, which makes me technically a boomer. I'm not of the "hippie" times, more like "That 70s Show" time.

14. A Moribund, Cowed, Third World Empire
with a crumbling infrastructure and 1% of the populace safely hidden away in Techo Castles with Cameras and Guards.

"Those Imperial Serfs are scary. They'll kill ya' for a quarter!"

Go to it, Xers (though you'll have to go through Emperor Ahnold and then Emperor George P. Caligula to do it).
