My Repub co-worker: "What march? I haven't heard about any march"
This is not a good thing as he is tied into the internet. He is a hawk but against this war. He is against * and thinks that * should be impeached!

I was talking to him about coming to DC with me. He wanted to know what was going on and so I told him. He said that he hadn't heard anything in the press about it. I explained the MSM thing but he kept saying, "If they don't show this on the news, you've failed."

What should we be doing to publicize this march to the media? I fear that I've missed all the press alert work that I'm sure is going on.

2. "If they don't show this on the news, you've failed"?
Let's see...200-300,000 people in Washington D.C. protesting the fiasco in Iraq. Yep, I'm sure the media will be able to ignore a third of a million people. :sarcasm:

3. Um... actually...
You never can tell. There were some pretty heavy protests before the Iraq invasion -- including thousands of participants and dozens of arrests -- that only made the local news.

5. If the MSM does ignore it
everyone should cancel their cable, satellite and throw their TV in the street

7. I suspect they'll find a way to ignore it.
I predict that it gets barely a mention in the wake of Katrina coverage.

8. Well, I argued with him on that point. ;)
He said, "Oh, it's great what you are doing. It's just that if no one hears about it, then you've failed to get your point across."

I agree with him on that - to a point. Part of the reason for marching is to show the US that there is a HUGE group of folks who are against this war. We want others to join with us, right? If we don't get the publicity, then that's not exactly a failure but it's not a great thing either.

I hope that we get a million folks there. I hope that we get 5 million. They can't ignore us then, can they?

4. The media doesn't generally report rallies before they happen.
They usually do it as they happen or after.

9. If Hurricane Rita hits the Texas Coast
on Friday, the coverage of the demonstrations will be minimal regardless of the numbers participating.

10. No Republicans that I know ever heard about the massive RNC NYC protest.
It was shown on CSPAN. There was virtually NO media coverage about the event in GA.

11. if the media ignores the march in DC
or they downplay the number of people who show up when it happens then it should happen again.

Only the next time it happens the people show up at CNN, Faux, etc. in other words all of the main corporatista news stations offices should have protesters outside of their main studios banging their pots, pans, and drums.

I say bring it to them if they are to damn lazy or as I think corrupt to do their jobs!

13. The time has come to start protesting at the TV studios and affilliates
"If Mohammed will not come to the mountain, the mountain will come to Mohammed." Or something like that.

Cindy Sheehan has the right idea, put the protests in places that simply cannot be ignored. The presidential palace is a good start, but we need to have pickets in the newsrooms.

14. I totally agree
I am pretty darn fed up with the corporate media. It's pathetic and shameful how they will not do their jobs. Katrina should have woken them up - and it did for a few days.

It's time to protest the coporate media!!!
