will we see Speaker Tom DeLay?

under House rules a Speaker can only serve 3 terms, so Hastert must step down in 2006, and there's rumors he might retire next year. And we all know who's next in line...

However, Hastert is the epitome of the empty suit. He's a boring dead fish who is barely recognizable and never makes the headlines. Most people don't know who he is, and most of those who do don't care. I have a feeling this might be why he was chosen, the GOP didn't want someone as polarzing as Gingrich. DeLay would be 10x as polarizing. So will they dump him for another empty suit?

Of course, Speaker DeLay might actually benefit us for the same way Gingrich did in the end. Just really hope for the health and safety of the President and VP.

Like a cockroach, Delay can only exist in the shadows and grime. Get him in the light, and everyone will see the power behind the GOP. And they will never vote Republican again.

and I think you may be right: he IS polarizing. Maybe something Lott-ian will happen to him, conveniently, and he'll step down?

One can only hope.

But, most likely, any replacement would be almost as bad.
