You know, it's a reflection of the parenting, it really is. There's such a thing as a problem here, and a problem there....but isn't this now every single one of Jeb's kids with an arrest?

Jeb Jr. has two? WTF is going on there? I mean, multiple arrests?

All of his children have been arrested. Sorry, their parenting sucked.

21. I agree actual *children* should be off-limits
But adult children of politicians benefit from being in the limelight. Ergo, they should take the rest that comes with it. It also is a commentary of the relative congruency of their parents' practice versus their preaching, as I said.

50. Didn't Gore's son simply get a traffic ticket
I agree with you basic statement that the kids are not in office and would not have considered newspapers printing this fair. But last year, Rove ran a campaign that slammed the Democrats on values, distorting their records and questioning their values.

Had Dean been the candidate, they would have used his son's offense, to hit Dean with. What should have been seen was that both Judy and Howard Dean were with their son and supported him. I would imagine this will be the last time Paul (?) Dean is ever in trouble.

Good Parenting doesn't mean your kids will never do anything wrong, but that you will be supportive and deal with problems and help the child learn from the experience. With Jeb and George's kids, it seems their parents' have merely conveyed that the rules are not for them. (Look at the speech that Karen Hughes wrote FOR the twins - almost glorifing their behavior. )

51. True,
but all kids are not equally easy to raise. There are people who have suceeded and become successful people who had horrendous childhoods, others who grew up to have major problems where the parents did everything they could to try to lead in the right direction.

Obviously, good parenting is better bad parenting, but we should not delude ourselves to think that as parents we can always prevent kids from failing.

That all of Jeb's kids are having problems is a red flag though.

47. I'd have to differ on that...
In our family we run the gamut (Ms "goody two shoes" to death row inmate), addictions (nearly teetotaler/non-smoker to chain smoking and alcoholism), drug use (nothing illegal to regular use of marijuana/peyote), politics (left to agnostic to moderate/right), education (6th grade drop-out to 3 degrees after high school), income (SSI to six figure).

There's a whole lot more than parenting that forms a child.

20. It wasn't until after her dad had been out of office for a while
that that happened.

The biggest complaint about Amy while she was a resident of the White House was that she once brought a book to the table and read during a state dinner.

The Carters caught all kinds of hell for 'letting' her do that.

We all know that really great "kid" that got in trouble once. This is a different story. It's all three of Jeb's and both of George's kids. And now Jebby's got two arrests under his belt (no pun intended). And George P.'s arrest was really an act of domestic violence. There's something seething in that family.

Don't forget Columba's smuggling....

57. Not necessarily
I was raised in the church, and raised in a Christian home. And I've never been in trouble with the law or anything before. But let's say I have. It would not signal any failure on my mother's part.

Children get grown and make certain decisions, despite their upbringings sometime.

Mind you, I'm not hardly being an apologists for the Bushies here.

I'm just saying we shouldn't blame children for the sins of their parents, and we can't always blame parents for the sins of their children.

I'm not saying that all kids are a reflection of their parents.

However, it is a testament to the Clintons - who freepers mock as immoral - that they raised such a smart and successful daughter.

As for Gore and Dean - there is a difference between sneaking some pot and systematically writing false prescriptions, stalking an ex-girlfriend, and other Bushjr fiascos.

Jeb, George, Laura, Newt, and the rest talk the "family values" talk, but when the rubber meets the road, they don't walk the walk.

Both Chelsea and Amy grew up to fine responsible adults, yet their parents never made a political career of espousing "family values" and bashing their opponents over the head with it.

44. Yep, that's exactly it.
The yawning gulf between what these wowsers say and what they do.

And I see another good reason to keep an eye on all Bu$h spawn. You can just bet that every one of the little buggers is being groomed to enter "public service" and suck off the public teat for the rest of their lives...just like the parental units.

I still remember all the media butt-kissing of that smarmy little George P. (Jeb's whelp) during sElection 2000. I don't know how many times I heard the media 'ho's fawn over him as "the heir apparent to the Bu$h dynasty." Etc.

That was before the stories surfaced about him getting stoned and using his SUV to dig doughnuts in an ex-girlfriend's lawn.

If the media had paid more attention to the youthful hijinks of $hrub and Jeb, we might not have the two of them stinking up public office today.

Problem with "knowing" about the early life of the BLP, is that he was "off the radar" during those years, and by the time he did appear on the media scope, his past history had been stealth-ed.
