Regarding Conservatives turning on Bush
Hundreds of Billions of Dollars to destroy and rebuild Iraq are Okay Dokey for them but not OK for citizens of our own country? Helping poor blacks - that's where they draw the line in fiscal irresponsibility? That's the straw that is breaking the proverbial camel's back. Not Iraq, not the tax cuts, but rebuilding a great AMERICAN city and institution?

No wonder I don't like these people.

1. They will change their tune
Once the corporate elite realize that most of the money earmarked for reconstruction will be going into their own pockets, there will be a mass 'awakening' in the conservite outlets boasting of how brilliant this plan is, and the brown shirts will fall back in line.

2. They aren't restoring Iraq. That was never the plan. It was to march in,
and take over. Everything, but especially the oil fields. That's where conservatives thought the money was going.

Little did they plan on those pesky Iraqis having other ideas.

7. The Iraq reconstruction was an idea born of failure. So is Katrina help.
And they are both being pursued by Bushites with the same enthusiasm and competence. None at all.

3. Yup, you hit the nail on the head
We keep on pumping billions of dollars into Iraq and they don't blink an eye. "We're spreading Democracy", they say. But this is what tips them over the edge. Go figure.

:wtf:

6. Since Bush took office 5 years ago I have never read this much hate
I was reading some threads over at Freeper republic and its amazing. The conservatives are really turning on the President over this. The things they are saying about rebuilding NO are disgusting too. You guys really need to read some of this venom. I sense a chance in all this for our side. My biggest regret right now is that the mid-terms are next year instead of this year.

Here is a great thread titled:

"Bush speech was part Franklin Roosevelt, part Lyndon Johnson"

14. SO funny...
...to read them calling Shrubby a closet DEMOCRAT?! I realize what a slur that is in their book. If too many of the base are calling him a Democrat...kiss of DEATH.

8. and another thing (as long as I'm ranting anyway)
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 01:22 PM by Kber
even if I thought he was sincere (which I don't), this Administration doesn't have what it takes to pull something like this off.

So, either he's sincere, but demonstrably incompetitent and surrounded by people who will sabatoge an effort like this.

Or he's a lying POS who, in essense is saying to NOLA, "Want some icecream? Psych!!"

13. The GOP version of: "Not in my back yard."
These folks have no problem, until money is thrown in a direction that their reptilian brains cannot engage beyond, "Do I kill it, eat it or have sex with it?"
