Why Limbaugh's, or any radio talker's, schtick can never work on sports TV
In their element, they answer to nobody. They can say whatever they like, do not have to back it up with facts and examples, can cut off any caller that might challenge them. They always have the last word; they are always right in their world.

But that can't and shouldn't work in the sports world. (Or the world of "respectable" journalism/media for that matter, but it certainly does on the cable TV shows.) It has been reported that Tom Jackson was very upset with himself for not challenging Limbut. What would an effective challenge contained? Perhaps:

"Rush, support your claims. Who in the media overrates and roots for black quaterbacks and coaches? Give us some hard examples.

You can't come on here and treat this audience or your colleagues here like you treat your radio audience. We're not interested here in your political agenda, in your obsession with the so-called liberal media. If you think Donovan McNab is over rated, fine; but don't make it a racial thing just because you like to discuss race. When you make a claim like this you better have some strong evidence."

Or something like that....

2. Someone (?) astutely put it this way:
racism, bigotry, intolerance, and hate talk are a GUILTY pleasure for many Americans, and they can indulge it SECRETLY if it's on the radio in their car or home or headphones.

If it's on the TV in technicolor, it's so out there that a person can't hide in the closet about it.

That made a lot of sense.

I knew a closet Rush (and Imus and Dr. Laura) fan -- and called him out for quoting the imbeciles and he said, 'oh, I was just searching for something on the radio and it came on, so I listened for a bit.'

Yep, knew this friend for over 10 years, and never knew him to ever have his radio on AM - ever. Yeah.....just channel surfed to AM to the very corner of the dial..... uh hum, right.

I think A LOT of people do this. A lot.

3. Very true.
What Rush et al say sounds very good to a frustrated white male. "It's not your fault, it's the liberal media, the minorities, the Democrats, who conspire against you to keep you down."

You tell someone that it's not their fault, and they will *want* to believe you. Rush exploits that emotion to the fullest.

4. The good news is that he was smacked down.
It was great to see that when this kind of an individual raises his head out from under the rock , we the American people smack him upside the head.

Under his rock with other fearful ignorant people ,he is idolized, out in the open, amongst intelligent Patriots, he is immediatly recognized and dealt with.

I feel Great.
