5. The one near Cuba will probably head north, but
that mess of yellow & red tpo the south and east is scary./. There are lots of possibilities in that mess, and the southern ones are the ones that sneak into the gulf or slam Florida
13. There are two systems other than Ophelia shown
The one just above and to the right of Haiti, Puerto Rico is the best defined but will most likely get caught up in the system that is pulling Ophelia to the NE. I hope....
Now that big blob in the lower right of the pic is a different story. Favorable winds and hot ocean temps will allow it to this one to develop. And it is low enough not to get caught up in the same system as above. This is one to watch.
There is also a system coming off the African coast that is not shown. It will most likely develop into a hurricane.
For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico... The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Ophelia...located about 40 miles east of Cape Hatteras North Carolina. There has been little change with the tropical wave located about 600 miles east-southeast of the southern Windward Islands. However...this system still has the potential to become a tropical depression over the next day or so as it moves westward or west-northwestward at around 15 mph. Showers and thunderstorms continue a couple hundred miles north- northeast of Puerto Rico. Upper-level winds are not currently favorable for development...but could slowly become more favorable over the next couple of days as the system moves slowly westward. Elsewhere...tropical storm formation is not expected through Saturday. Forecaster Franklin
