Who would you like to be Democratic National Chairman?
I think McAuliffe has been terrible. He may be good at fund raising but I don't think he is a good strategist. I think Ed Rendell was very good--and quite effective on tv which is a major plus--I never think Terry is very effective on TV.

I think it is again time that the DNC chairman was a person of color--or a woman--or both. Time and again it seems like African-Americans and Latinos are passed over for these postions. Yet they are our most loyal supporters on election day.

I think Charlie Rangal, Bill Richardson, and ex-NH governor Jeanne Shaheen (or ex-Texas Governor Ann Richards)would make good potential candidates for party chairperson. If we did go the white male route again--what about possibly Max Cleland? He knows the treachery of the Bush regime first hand and would be a great symbol to put forth as party chairman.

Finally, it is doubtful that Terry would be replaced until after our nominee is selected--then he should be gracious enough to submit his resignation and if the party nominee wants to keep him, fine, but hopefully he will give this very visible postion the consideration it deserves.

2. Someone who knows ...
... the difference between 'who' and 'whom'? (Is my pedantry showing?) :silly:

How about Ben Cohen?

4. thanks for the correction
I guess I'm just happy to know that I'm probably one of 2% of the total population who knows the name of the Democratic National Chairman or the 1/4 democratic voters (is it that high?) who can name all nine candidates.

20. Only an obsessive 'whom-er'
... like me would quibble with it. (Traumatic encounters with authoritarian English teachers in grade school, I guess.) It's a 'living language' and long-term majoritarian usage prevails. (Nobody ever heard of "Who's Whom".)

How'd Al Gore or Bill Clinton do as DNC chair? :dunce:

3. Without a Doubt...
The new DNC chair should be Hank Arron, Willie Mays, or Curt Flood.

5. Following up for Drudge are you?
We voters don't make this decision anyway. So why are you wasting bandwidth with a focus group follow up question to Drudge Sunday night radio show headlines?

8. No
and what is wrong with this question by the way that you find so offensive. I know we don't make the decisions but this is an open forum and if you don't want to participate then don't. I happen to think that our party would benefit from having a person of color or woman in this very important post and I don't mind posting it either. By the way, if you read the post I said it wouldn't be until after the candidate is selected and it used to be traditional that the party chairman would submit his resignation at that time and leave it up to the new nominee to either keep him or replace him.

10. We have different decisions to make these days.
Like what candidate we support in the primaries. Demactivist is right. You are just perpetuating Drudge's useless divisive fabrication. Irrelevant and damaging. :kick:

12. that is silly
I'm as committed to the primary calendar as anyone and am supporting Howard Dean as a volunteer and donator. To speculate on a open forum such as this about the type of person you would like as DNC chairman is not damaging anybody. That is just plain rediculous.

11. I think we owe Terry a debt of gratitude ...
He did many things that needed doing in a big way. He got the DNC out of debt and I cannot EVER remember that happening before. He streamlined the organization and computerized many things that needed to be computerized and had not yet been done. I understand that he didn't throw enough tantrums to suit some here but for my part, he might be the best DNC head we've ever had. When he leaves the post and turns it over to his successor, it will be in better shape than it's been in for a long, long time.

14. Ed Rendell?
I thought he was good until the night the USSC decision came down on Bush v. Gore, and before ANYONE, including himself, had read the thing, he called for Gore to concede! I wrote to the DNC and demanded his firing, not that I ever heard back from them or anyone regarding this.

15. I like McAuliffe, but I don't like this wedge that we have enabled Repukes
to put down between him and the Democratic base (and others) via this Global Crossing non-scandal.

16. keep McAuliffe
I don't even know what he does, really, or what qualities are needed, but the candidates all seem to think he's doing a good job, so that's good enough for me.

Plus I want to spite Drudge. :-)
