Frances Newton will abide in the house of the Lord forever

As cruel as her death was, we can be assured that she is abiding in the presence of All Mighty God. May her family be able to forgive and have peace. We all should never forget what happened this night. May we all know God's everlasting love.

1. I just saw that she was executed. I really thought they would give
her a last minute appeal. I felt ill when I saw they went through with it. I did the action here on DU but obviously that was too little too late.

3. Yes... those who favor the DP forget that we are not "surgical"
in delivery of the "ultimate punishment." When I read the account of Frances' poor mother and father--and her inconsolable sister.... I am once again shamed by my country's leadership.

4. RACIST FUCKING TEXANS!
We've been told lately about how kind Texans are by taking in hurricane victims. Bullshit! Their racism shows tonight. This woman was innocent! Another African-American victim of the Bush reich!

I have to stop referring to myself and others like me as African-American. We are AFRICAN!!!

7. I apologize for speaking my mind...
...but I have followed her story for years. I picketted on her behalf. I saw the racism dripping from the courts and througout her appeals process.

I am irate! This woman should be alive!!!

6. Isn't it amazing, that the logic follows that the world is now a better
place with her death.

I don't know anything about her, or the circumstances.

I only know that taking of life is taking of life, and the fallacy that justice somehow lurks within is hollow and fake.

The taking of life, outside the realm of extreme self-defense, mocks justice, and logic, and humanity itself.

8. Amen.
At least she will be with her precious children again.
This proves that the system doesn't work for poor people.

I have a friend that was drinking and driving one night many years ago in South Texas. He ran a stop sign.
Killed the mother of a Texas DPS trooper.
He hired a high profile attorney and never served a day in jail. He did community service at the airport.
I am not saying he wasn't remorseful...indeed he was. It still haunts him. However, because he could afford above adequate counsel, he was let off with a slap on the wrist.
