What are the RW'ers smoking?
Religious conservatives think March of the Penguins is an affirmation of conservatism.

On the conservative Web site WorldNetDaily.com, an opponent of abortion wrote that the movie "verified the beauty of life and the rightness of protecting it."

At a conference for young Republicans, the editor of National Review urged participants to see the movie because it promoted monogamy. A widely circulated Christian magazine said it made "a strong case for intelligent design."

1. Seasonal monogamy
And homosexuality. The religious right couldn't qualify for the remedial class in science.

2. It's a cult. They interpret everything for the followers in cult terms.

5. WTF?!
A strong case for intelligent design? How??

Assholes.

And too bad the "beauty of life and the rightness of protecting it" doesn't apply to not polluting the shit out of the world of the adult penguin, and other animals, including humans.

7. So, according to the Christians, it made a strong case for evolution
because, when you really break it down, intelligent design is just evolution, with "God must have done it" added in.

Or, as Jon Stewart said, not necessarily God, but really just anyone with the basic skillsets needed to create the universe and life.

8. Intelligent Design is directed, it is not the "watchmaker" analogy
The idea of intelligent design is creationism involving a creation event about 8,000 years ago, or it is directed involvement in biological change, divine intervention. It specifically rejects the watchmaker analogy that the watchmaker may have made the big bang and set everything in motion. I don't much care what happened before the big bang, but I surely resent meddling non-scientists who try to foist a faith based belief system to replace evidence driven science.
