Guh... buh... how the hell am I supposed to react?!?!
It's like visiting your grandmother, only to see her pull off her own face and eat the dog! You don't expect it!

Bush accepts full responsibility for federal government failings of the hurricane. GAH! WHAT?!

How am I supposed to react to this?

"Daddy, stop hitting mommy!"
"No!"
"Daddy, stop hitting mommy!"
"No!"
"Daddy, stop hitting mommy!"
"No!"
(five years later)
"Daddy, stop hitting mommy!"
"Okay, here's an ice cream."
"Wait, what?"

I should note that responsibility is a strong first step, but it shouldn't stop there.

1. ONLY 'to the extent the federal government' was involved
he qualified this 'acceptance of responsibility' to the point that it is utterly meaningless

2. Mere words...
If "accepting responsibility" meant anything more to Bush than simply saying "I accept responsibility," he wouldn't have said it.

3. I know, but it's so strange still...
I mean, even admitting responsibility, admitting a mistake is so completely against Bush's nature. I mean, he's shown all the qualities of a complete narcissist for the past 5 years. He NEVER admits fault!

4. With skepticism.
Unless he fixes the many problems created with his cronyism and partisanship, we would be foolish to take him at his word. Look what happened when people believed him and his team on Iraq. As of today, 1896 U.S. dead, 13,000+ wounded, uncounted thousands of Iraqis dead and wounded.

Talk. Is. Cheap.
