Tweety just treated DK like sh*t.
He was yelling at him about his appointing pro-choice judges - called it pandering, hypocrisy (because of his changed position). Then he hammered him, after Dennis said he wanted to make sure abortion was not criminalized. Name one member ofCongress who would vote for that, Tweety screamed!

It wasn't pretty.

1. Kucinich looked like an idiot
They were talking about DK statement that the Repugs want to criminalize abortion. Why didn't he say criminalizing abortion means putting doctors in jail...... not just women who have abortions?

7. Exactly. DK has good ideas and absolutely no ability to deal with
controversy. And the fact is this, he is NOT ELECTABLE. No way, no how, never, nada, zilch. I do not say this with any glee, it's just the way it is.

16. Not a single vote has been cast for any of these candidates
How can you claim that Kucinich is not electable? You have no clue where the American people are going to be at next year in their dwindling love affair with Bush. We may be talking of impeachment by then.

Kucinich is more electable than those candidates that stood in the Rose Garden alongside Bush in support of the Iraq war resolution. You know, the one that was based on a series of lies about Saddam having WMD and posing a clear and present danger to American shores.

28. There is absolutely zero chance of anyone named Kucinich being elected
Edited on Tue Jul-15-03 10:04 PM by karlschneider
It doesn't even matter what his politics are...his name is a fatal blow. I don't like that for a nanosecond, but sometimes we have to face reality. The several dozen million Bubbas who vote would never cast a vote for someone whose name they can't pronounce or spell. A horrible reality?...absolutely, but one that can not be ignored. Dukakis was another candidate with mostly a proper message and I will tell you right now that his NAME was one of or maybe his biggest liabilities. If you don't think Joe Sixpack is suspicious of "foreign sounding" names, you're living under a pink sky.

Hey, I admit to being a cynic of the first water, but this is beyond speculation. I would vote for DK in a NY minute (or anyone else except maybe O.J. Simpson) to get rid of the lying bastard squatting in the WH, but we have to accept reality here.

Edit: There's a replay of Hardball on MSNBC starting right now, 2200 CDT. Watch it if you can and see how cowed and intimidated DK was by Tweety. He should have had some cojones, he didn't. He was a pussy.
We don't need a fluffball, we need someone who can stand up to jerkoffs like Matthews and others who will be even less charitable.

2. DK had an easy out and missed it and looked silly.
After giving evidence about Republicans wanting to outlaw abortion, Tweety asked who would criminalize it or put people in jail. He simply should have said, something that is outlawed is criminalized and those who break the law are often put in jail.

3. Sent a blistering letter to Hardball staff...
That was an embarassing display by Matthews. Though I am not Kucinich's biggest fan, you HAVE to give your guest a chance to defend himself. It seems like Tweety was more interested in smearing Kucinich than in uncovering any truth.

5. If Kucinich doesn't realize that everyone is against him...
tough shit. All he has to do is look at the polls and that should tell him to be prepared for the absolute worst when it comes to interviews. I hate Tweety, but I was not surprised to see him attacking Kucinich. I was surprised to see that Kucinich wasn't prepared.

I won't even hit on his show because I don't want his "in the dumpster" ratings to go up even one notch. We try to tell you how bad he is......but you don't listen........

It's okay..........though.........at least I can come here and read the thread and know that "Tweety" isn't any better lately than he had been for the past years............:-(

17. Yeppers, We Go Through "The Tweety Wars" Repeatedly
In another thread somebody is giving him a pass on being a wingnut whore because he "was anti-war". Tweety did some so-called "anti-war" thing, then reversed himself, bedazzled by the MACHO antics of the early Iraq attack.

In another post, somebody said he should be fired for the DK incident. Hah! He wasn't fired when he badgered Kathleen WILLEY about naming a name of the so-called "jogger", she wouldn't; he DID and it was WRONG and set-off Pat BUCHANAN's mentally disabled brother into a GUN INCIDENT at that WRONG person's house.

He DAILY has acted as a Repuke operative for at least the past five years. We go through the "Tweety Wars" every time Tweety deigns to throw us a CRUMB. He boasts about his, um, VERSATILITY (cough), how he can "play Right and play Left" and predictably infuriate each side at will, which he considers a sign of his superior intelligence.

In these Tweety Wars, his core groupies from WAY back to when he appeared to be one of us (Hardball, the book, 1988) invariably find the latest crumb to be Tweety "SEEING THE LIGHT," "COMING (back) TO HIS SENSES," "RETURNING TO HIS TRUE SELF."

His previous most vicious attack was what he did to DONAHUE. Tonight in his stunning attack on KUCINICH (I'm a KERRY supporter albeit a DEM above all), he was his ONLY true self, the street THUG he always was, whichever side he was momentarility on.

22. UTUSN that's a great post... Tweety Wars and the Coulter Wars....ongoing
on DU..............sigh.................I would be happy never to hear either of their names again. But, to each his own.

Some of us just gave up on "Tweety" long ago.......and Coulter just loves when her name is mentioned anywhere........(all that free publicity she "gets off" on.....

29. Thanks, So Was Yours. I've Had Plenty of Tweety Practice
Have had plenty of polishing practice on Tweety. I don't watch him continually anymore, just check-in. What I HAVE given up on is writing e-mails fuming against him because they apparently go unheeded. Hope that my too-infrequent valid posts mitigate my unfortunate Friday and Sunday nights posts.

12. Exactly - too often "we" let the media make our decisions for us
by telling us what to buy, what to think, who's "hot", who's "not" and on and on and on. I, for one, will not be "branded" by a corporation via the media and I will damn well NOT allow some ludicrous "talking head" to shape/re-shape the way I think. Unfortunately, one can't say the same for the majority of Americans.

And I say that as a Dean supporter and NOT a Kucinich-for-President fan at all.

If someone has the address handy, I'll fire off an email too.

NO ONE should treat any of our candidates that way, no matter who they are or what they have done or said. NO ONE should treat a sitting member of Congress that way. Period.

14. Well, is this all that different from whats said on DU?
I recall a while back when Kuciniches campaign was getting underway we'd see lots of posts on how Kucinich was being politically expedient on the abortion issue and how he couldnt be trusted due to his switching sides, as it where, on this issue.

I dont' see what the big deal is. Although I didnt see the show, It sounded like Matthews hammered Kucinich on his weakest spot, his abortion record and his flip-flop on it.

So, its bad if Chris Matthews is pretty much doing whats' been done here at DU? Why? Because its Chris Matthews doing the hammering?

15. In case this is a Kucinich bashing frenzy thread by supporters of...
I don't know if this is a Kucinich bashing frenzy by supporters of one of the discredited prowar candidates, so I will reserve judgment until I get to watch the rerun of the Tweety show. Tweety is known for firing a series of questions in rapid succession with the intent of preventing the candidate from formulating an answer. I saw Tweety do this to Bob Graham the other day, he wouldn't let Graham get his answer in.

I will wait until I either see the rerun, or I hear from a number of reliable posters that do not have an agenda.

32. Not DK-bashing. Tweety Was VICIOUS
This went WAY beyond rapid fire distraction. He did the YES-OR-NO thing, called him "pandering" and "desperate", said that he would turn to the Repuke guest "for a SERIOUS discussion, THAT (with DK) wasn't a SERIOUS discussion", and generally was BRUTALLY RUDE to DK. When Tweezer was signing off, he listed the guests in farewell without their being on screen. I'm betting that DK walked out.

Tweety's previous most vicious attack was when he guested on DONAHUE and eyed him with LETHAL looks and MOCKED him to his face and lambasted by saying that Liberals are anti-U.S.

His long-term, every day viciousness against Dems is certainly damaging, but more insidious rather than outright hatefulness.

I'm a KERRY supporter, but of the any-Dem-is-better-than-any-Repuke school, and would hope that Dem-on-Dem dirty tricks would not be used here.

26. Who Cares?
I don't give a hoot whether he gets elected. I'm pretty sure he will not, a fact that most certainly does not elude DK. However, I DO care about whether he inspires discussion of the issues facing our country. Unfortunately, Tweety's show is clearly NOT a forum for actual discussion of said issues. I hope DK will quickly learn where he should (and should not) appear so he does not waste time and energy, nor bring embarrassment (however unfair) to the field of Dem candidates (by association).
