1. It has been, but it's good to do every so often.
If nothing else, it makes me feel good to know I'm not the only one in their 60's here on DU!

2. I Am Very Much Suprised
I expected to see the majority of the people here to clock in in their 20's and 30's. So immagine my surpise to see so may other old farts like myself (58). Well, not so old, but old farts none the less.

12. Remember, the "Baby Boom" years go until 1964, so 40's and 50's
does make sense, I guess.

77. By what idiotic rationale does the Baby Boom extend to 1964?
Is it some blind, deaf, and dumb statistical thing? Or was the "greatest generation" so great that almost 20 years after the war, they're still randy for normality and ready for boom-boom?

I happen to have been born in '64. My formative years were the '70s, and my first big "political awareness" was the Iran hostage crisis. I have never identified myself as a "boomer".

Personally, I like the "Generation Jones" concept for those of us born between 1954 and 1965:

If you were born between 1954 and 1965, ask yourself this question: "Do I feel like a member of The Baby Boom Generation, Generation X, or neither?" Ask other people of this age which of the two generations they feel a part of. You will quickly find that the vast majority of people in this age group do not feel like Boomers or Xers.

New generations typically assert their "differentness" when their oldest members hit their late teens and early twenties. Three times in the last 35 years, "new generation" choruses have appeared—in the early-60s(Boomers), the mid-70s (us), and early 90s(Xers). While the Boomer and Xer choruses resulted in media feeding frenzies, our attempts to assert our collective identity were largely ignored.

57. I'm 53 going to be 54 in Nov. & not surprised at all. I have discovered
being on the Internet now for 7 years that most of the people that I have attuned to, sight unseen were around my age, given a 10 year swing in either direction. Even my Internet based business! Most of my customers wind up within that age range. :)

For some reason, I remember when my dad was 46 years old and I remember thinking "man, that's old". Now....I feel like - where the hell did my 30's go? Hell, it doesn't seem that long ago when I was in my 20's!

"old", and now I'm 17 years older than he ever got to be. And I don't even "feel" old...weird how that works.

21. Done before? Yes, it has...
The result?

If you're 60, you'll be surprised that the average DUer age is 45.

If you're 22, you'll be surprised that the average DUer age is 45.

The moral? The average age of those who are politically active is 45.

Me? I'm 43, so I'm not very surprised. ;)

28. 45 here, and I am sorry for my late coming to politics. I was so busy
trying to do the education and corporate thing, my parents put on me, I truly didn't have time. My generation, I feel are late bloomers, and yet here we are. Growing in size more and more.

Just an explanation, my immediate peer group, is that of high school educated parents, who emphasized college and work success. It was somewhat of a guilt trip, we paid for your education (we never had) now go out on your own. Because of this, we were late in coming, but I expect more and more to come.

69. Today is my birthday. I'm 53.
People ask me how I feel about getting old. I remind them that the alternative was dying young.

I am very sorry however, about the world I will be leaving my children who are 11 and 6. I wish I could do more for them.

...this same poll on freperville. I really wanna know who these people are

In fact, I bet a lot of their polls would be entertaining. I just don't have the stomach to wade through that site

73. Turned 56 this year. But Mick Jagger is 62 and touring with the Stones...
Being "old" sure ain't what it used to be!

I'm actually enjoying life far more now than I did in my 30s and 40s. I regret a lot of wasted time/efforts, but, like a shark, you gotta keep moving forward.

I don't mind becoming an old guy, it's being an old **sick** guy that scares me. So I work out, watch what I eat, etc., and control that end as much as I can.

And I can still act silly and horse around with the best of 'em! :bounce:
