Look at this cartoon and tell me
wat is wrong with it? It tells us that if the passengers were armed the terrorists would never hijack the planes, but the cartoonist a libertarian makes one major mistake. Namely that if the passengers were able to bring guns into a plane then the terrorists certainly do it too. Me thinks Libertarians/conservatives are not really smart!!!

1. Does this jerkoff think the people in NO should have their guns too?
I'd love to hear the answer to that.

Your point is of course correct...this cartoon just makes me want to :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: until my eyes hurt!

11. Exactly!
I'm sick of this whole bullshit meme about how if everyone just had guns, no one would ever be hurt by the bad guys with guns again. That's total bullshit. And I don't WANT to live in a country where everyone has guns everywhere, what total chaos that would be. People whip out their guns at the slightest hint of insult or provocation nowadays.

6. This is incredibly stupid!
The terrorists strongest weapon is their willingness to die.

They KNOW they are going to die...so why would they be shaking in their boots?

If all those people shot their guns, they'd take each other out and put enough holes in the plane to take it down. Stupid.

if they were shot?

I didn't even think of that at first, you're right. Incredibly stupid.

15. I am old enough to remember
All In The Family, an episode,...there were hijackings going on at the time supposebly,...
Archie does an opinion piece on TV, what he said is all passengers getting on planes should be armed to the teeth.Weapons should be distributed to those boarding the plane.
It was hilarious because the idea was so ridiculous
Today this is how one half of the country thinks. So sad

13. Of course it's assumed ,
Edited on Sun Sep-11-05 03:00 PM by agincourt
that any of the passangers would have a gun. More not so clever RW distortion. Even if the passangers have guns, all the terrorist has to do is hold a gun to a stewardresses head, and they probably won't fire. Unless of course the government would have told us before hand of aircraft being used for suicide bombing.

16. Gee so many things wrong with it
1. i s this guy saying we should have passengers carrying guns onto planes? One bullet hole through the plane and everybody dies. I doubt that would bother a terrorist trying to do a SUICIDE run.

2. If the other passengers had guns, why couldn't the terrorists have gotton guns too? Guns are only effective if you get yours out FIRST.

Just another gun nut living in fantasy land...thinking all problems can be solved by killing enough people (gee, what a coinka-dinky..that's hwo Al queda thinsk too)

17. Irrational, isn't it?
Now--I will argue that a few box knives could never have withstood a concerted attack by citizens actually TRAINED to defend themselves. Believe it or not, a skilled person with a rolled up magazine could have disabled one of these jokers in seconds.

There is some truth, I think, to the notion that an armed society is a polite society--if the other side of the coin is the belief that taking another life in anything but defense of life is absolutely wrong. Without that abiding belief, arming everyone is a recipe for disaster.

How's THIS for a pre-requisite for owning a gun?

"To obtain a firearm, one must first show skill and aptitude in other methods of self-defense, armed and unarmed, and have demonstrated a strong moral resistence to unnecessary acts of violence."

You could waive this in particular circumstances for the disabled...but requiring it of able-bodied adults would generally insure that those who had guns wouldn't consider (or need to consider) using them as a first resort.

The USMC recommends that marines take off-base martial arts instruction because they'd discovered that such training tends to make a marine less likely to engage in brawling and other destructive behavior.

Of course, I've been an advocate of near-universal self-defense training most of my life.

21. This is one of the dumbest cartoons I've ever seen...
Obviously the artist of the cartoon doesn't know basic physics...if a bullet hole were blown into the side of the airplane, the plane would lose pressure and would go down, most likely killing everyone.

And if all the passenger had guns, the terrorists would have them too...

God. Where does this guy get his "logic" from??? IDIOT!

23. travelling

I'm an Australian grandmother who likes to travel where I want, when I want, alone. Over the years, I have encountered troublemakers more times than I remember; people attacking me, people whose attacks on other people I've interfered with and prevented, and people who had just gone crazy and were out to kill everyone. The attackers in all these cases have been armed, mostly with knives, one with a steel mallet. As none had guns, the fighting abilities I picked up from a rough childhood have been enough for me to not only protect myself, but to protect others too. However if people were routinely carrying guns, things would be different.

One thing you can be sure of, the bad guy will shoot first. He initiates, you then have to decide whether or not you should respond. Amd if the attacker has a gun, he can kill you before you even see him, let alone shoot back.
