Before Hurricane Katrina hit, as officials were allowing people into the Superdome Col. Terry Ebbert Dir. of Homeland Security in New Orleans said, "We're not in here to FEED people we're here to see that when Tuesday morning comes that they are alive."

Hmm. So, first of all, how will they continue to live in there if you don't feed them and give them water? Second of all, it seems like common sense that you need to keep this very large crowd of people as comfortable as possible - DUH! Finally, that part about "when Tuesday morning comes" that means that help should have been there starting on Tuesday morning, right?

Oh, and one more thing, how the hell do people like this get a job in the "Department of Homeland Security" which apparently can't secure diddly?

PS I hope this information leaks out like it was connected to Karl.

1. The plan
Edited on Sun Sep-11-05 01:42 AM by The Traveler
as outlined on CNN and other networks BEFORE the storm hit, was that FEMA would arrive with supplies and troops in 48 hours. They had to make it by themselves for 48 hours ... so surviving the storm was the problem NOLA had to solve for themselves. They accomplished that. But the promised relief did not arrive.

2. Shelter Of Last Resort
It was only meant for a place for people to ride out the storm. Mayor Nagin asked people to bring their own food for up to 3 days...as it was assumed there'd be no power for that long...if not water and/or sanitation.

The FEMA fuck up is they were supposed to pre-position food, water, generators, communications equipment and other support items...things that had been used in other emergencies...to flood into the area once the storm had passed.

Trucks could have crossed into the city on Monday morning, but never did...nor Tuesday nor Wednesday.
