I had to started thinking seriously on this and my gut says it would bury BushCo and the NeoCons for the next 40 years -

- it would prove once and for all that "we are not safer".

- it would show that we wasted our time,money and blood fighting them "over there" instead of preparing our defense "over here".

- if FEMA actually DID respond in a fast, efficent manor, then the big question gets bigger "HOW DID YOU FUCK UP IN NEW ORLEANS?"

- if FEMA really bit the big one again, then the stake gets driven in deeper.

- if they try to pass the buck off on bad intelligence and/or lax military, then I would almost the 'real' Generals to say ENOUGH!

then on the other hand, would they be able to brainwash the foolish, declare total martial law, finally destroy the consitiution... then if that happens, I'm thinking the Generals standing up again and saying "HOLD ON THERE GEORGE..."

I have to think it would be lose-lose-lose... but I worry...

Katrina proved we do not have the resources to keep America safe. I think Americans have finally opened their eyes to how little leadership this man provides. I sure hope we don't have to face it while he is in office.

FEMA and DHS are a complete joke... all we need now is an inadequate response to an attack. Bush would be run out on a rail.

Bush would be politically dead... So likely would the rest of the cabal.

Remember what they campaigned on? "We can keep you safe." "We fight them there so we don't have to fight them here." "We haven't had another attack on our soil since 9/11." (Forget about the anthrax killer?)

Everything they've been able to do is artfully constructed on top of some carefully crafted memes which they have used a feckless press, a weak opposition party, and a gullible electorate to establish. In the current situation another 9/11-like attack would challenge the basis of those memes to the point that the whole house of cards would collapse.

If another 9/11 like attack happened, the whole house of cards would collapse. Indeed, it may very well be collapsing now.

For some reason, Americans still think that Bush is strong against terrorism. If we were to be attacked again, I think Americans would rally around him just like before. The media would back him for fear of looking like they were siding with the terrorists if they didn't. The difference between this and Katrina is that we can go and beat up the terrorists, unlike a hurricane. Bush can talk tough and act tough when it against a person or group of people. Americans loved that John Wayne image that he portrayed after 9/11. I know that it would show that he and Cheney are unable to protect us, but I think we as a nation would get swept up in a patriotic fervor.
