Is "Lickity Quick" a common phrase in the Big Easy?
I thought it was "Lickity Split"?

1. I think he was exhausted and created the new phrase
on the spot. He actually says - several times: "Lickety sp - quick" - he started to say 'split' but then shifted to 'quick'.

2. I noticed that too.
I think we should start using it more here on DU in support of Mayor Nagin.

3. I could go for that -
I love unique phrases and I believe that the Mayor did all that he could do to save lives - and spoke TRUTH to power!

4. When I heard that I thought it was edited from Lickety Split...
or maybe he stopped himself both times and said lickety quick instead of lickety split. I guess politicians arent supposed to use slang...
