The power struggle between federals and locals
It should have been resolved BEFORE Hurrican Katrina as part of careful planning. By the time it hit all actions should have just been part of a pre-determined protocol. Resolving it after the fact only points to just another failure of leadership and how low a priority it was before it hit.

1. you know, if the Repukes want small government
it should be competant. After all, one of the reasons to have a government is to provide for the common defense-in this case, defense against a natural disaster.

3. And how many died because of this?
Is this what Jesus would do? Perhaps after a head injury.

4. It Had Been
Look at the various stories regarding "Hurricane Pam"...the simulation last year of a Cat. 5 storm on NOLA as well as the many studies that had been done...and plans prepared, but FEMA sat on and never allowed or funded to be put into effect.

Look at the number of natural disasters that have occured and how many times the Naional Guard, Federal agencies and even the military have been involved in. The more you see how efficient things had become under a James Lee Witt and how it's been totally trashed by this kleptocracy.

Again, I'll post this question over and over. If there was a problem with Governor Blanco and there wasn't with Gov. Barbour and Riley, what kept help from getting to those areas for 4 days or longer? What's the deal with that?

The more you see Repugnicans pass the buck on this, the more you know they're covering their asses as they know they've been exposed. Trust me, many folks in the affected regions aren't debating whose to blame here...those fingers are pointed sqaurely at FEMA and mr. booooosh.

but the Federal Government refused to carry out their duties and went on vacation instead.

It was a Failure to Lead On Purpose.

8. Called a truth line. The sociopath knows the outcome and runs
their aliby the whole way through. In this case, not solving a power-struggle served them well. They are the pentagon, the WH, the State Department, and they know what happens when you leave a city for a week.

When Nagin asked for help - they sent in one fixer. Just one. Honore. For a whole city. One.
