6. If anything is going to be disruptive to the Schiavo-Repub white base ...
... then whomever designed that graphic probably could not have done a better job, imho.

8. And, look at the Special Coverage topics (as of 1415 PDT)
Rescue & Relief

• New leader for Katrina relief efforts
• Process snarled before Katrina arrived
• All bodies get numbers, not all will get names

People

• Gore airlifts Katrina victims
• CNN TV: Children of the Storm, 8 p.m. ET

Impact

• Children traumatized by Katrina
• Powell slams hurricane response
• No audience, no stage, no homes

I think they are really sticking it to Bush and the Republicans.

Peace.

... Rove or Hughes approved this one.

11. Certainly. Lived in south texas for 22 years. I think CNN is targeting ..
... exactly the folk that Bush and Rove do not want them informing, and I think they have done a remarkable job of hitting that target.

Peace.

10. pesonally, I dont have a problem telling her story too. her mom
died right before her eyes. all of the people there, black and white, deserve to have their say. Tears and pain do not discriminate. God bless ALL of the suffering people of the gulf. If that had been my mother, I would be walking toward DC with a pitch fork.

12. Totally agree. Again, as noted in other comments, I think CNN ...
... is presenting something that will deliver even more demands for Bush's resignation and more.

Peace.

13. I think they are going for shrub's base, too.
But if they're poor, they may have suffered, too. THey just didn't have racism piled on top adding even more insult to injury.

14. These are VICTIMS -- how dare anyone belittle what they
went through?

They watched someone very dear to them die --

Sometimes political correctest is just being real pissy and picky.

There are lots of stories -- and guess what? Some might just be about white people. Damn -- what a bunch of racists -- complaining just because the story is about white people.

SHAME on anyone for making light of what this family went through.

If anyone takes the time to read the story -- the woman/mother who survived was in a wheel chair and HER mother died.

The brother of the mother rescued the family and then he went right back and kept finding more people to rescue -- this man is a hero.

17. Everything you state is true and I agree. If you notice, in the OP ...
... I stated that no comment was required.

I was interested to see what comments appeared.

Some are disappointing, as you note.

I have tried, in the comments I've posted, to note that CNN is telling a story in a way that is as close to what those complaining about complicity on the part of the corporate media would find shocking that CNN would now be posting

They are making this story about all the folk who were affected and they have chosen a very powerful story that rips through whatever "base" Bush might still have had.

I am amazed that they did it.

Peace.

20. Froomkin: "Instead, it's all a reflection of a shift in Bush's base."
Bush Losing Support From His Base

By Dan Froomkin

Special to washingtonpost.com
Friday, September 9, 2005; 1:36 PM

Through thick and thin, President Bush has always maintained the ferocious backing of his Republican base.

Until now?

<clip>

But look at the detailed results for the story behind the story. That four percentage point shift from just two months ago isn't fueled by any significant change of mind among Democrats and independents. Instead, it's all a reflection of a shift in Bush's base.

Republicans polled in July said they approved of Bush by an 88 to 9 percent margin. In September, that margin was 79 to 18, reflecting a 9 percent shift from approvers to disapprovers. That's a very significant change.

More at the link:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/blog/2005/09/09/BL2005090901150_pf.html

And, that poll was done before September 8, 2005.

Peace.
