Join Campaign: All New Orleanians MUST be allowed to come home!
The writing is on the wall. The Haves will fight tooth and nail to rebuild New Orleans with no place for evacuees to come back to. A worthy repost from yesterday: http://www.guardian.co.uk/Columnists/Column/0,5673,1566199,00.html

The magic and mystique of New Orleans is built on the fact that it is a melting pot of poor, rich, black, white, shacks, townhomes, old creole recipes, new upscale dining, and tin can dancers.

The poor must be allowed to return to a better place. Their lot improved, but their heritage intact. Otherwise we truly will lose New Orleans.

In all your efforts, Please keep this hope alive !

2. I agree. What is sad is that it is impossible to build "old and
charming" I wish that they could work to restore the old houses somehow, but I have read that it is likely they will have to be leveled.

3. We really need Pres. Carter to step up to the plate here. He at
least has the respect of most Americans when it comes to this kind of thing and people will listen to him.

4. repatriation of NO survivors should be the stated policy of . . .
the federal, state, and local governments . . . many of these people have lived there all their lives, as have their families . . . New Orleans IS their world, and they don't know anything else . . . trying to forces them into communities and cultures completely foreign to them is just asking for more trouble . . . and it's not fair to the survivors . . .

6. amen. here's hoping we retake the senate in 06. I noticed B**
announced yesterday that the Government was going to reimburse all the cities who took in evacuees. That won't help get them back to NOLA.
