The letters we SHOULD be writing to Congress
One theme, hammering them on it. Okay, two if you're sending an "Impeach Bush" message. Anyway, that one theme should be, RECIND THE TAX CUTS FOR THE WEALTHY. The time is right. America is watching in disgust as the wealthy rape New Orleans, profiteer of America's misery and shit on us little guys. The political climate will never be better. Bush is weak and ineffective, and cannot afford to be seen whining about the poor rich folk now. Lower or place a moratorium on taxes on the lower classes, if need be. Be creative. But goddammit, now is the time for the HAVES to step up to the fucking table again and show that they're human beings first, Bush supporters second.

Or are they?

2. Terry Schiavo Vs Katrina
Edited on Fri Sep-09-05 09:18 AM by kalyanvenkat
All, I am an Indian and I live in Asia and I have lived in the US for a couple of years ( During clinton period).I have been to New orleans as well and did enjoy every moment there. I really got interested in American politics when I saw Bush campaigning for 2000 elections. I could not believe that how come a country which has produced the most no of nobel laureates and innovators could have a bumbler as a president. I really share the angst that all of you have here.

Well, A very interesting point THERE WAS A MIDNIGHT CONGRESS INTERVENTION ON THE TERRI SCHIAVO CASE and in KATRINA THE FEMA RESPONDS FIVE DAYS AFTER THE LANDFALL. THIS CLEARLY EXPOSES REPUBLICAN'S PRIORITES AND UTTER DISDAIN FOR THE POOR. PLS ASK REPUBLICAN CONGRESS MEMBERS FOR AN EXPLANATION

I hope all the republicans are shown experts from james madison's Federalist papers which clearly say the government's fundamental job is to protect the poor and people who are powerless.

I am really gratified to see the immense outpouring of kindness after this disaster.

3. undeniably... here's mine:
letter to the Senators Clinton & Schumer
(help yourselves if you like)

It is past time to revisit the huge, irresponsible tax cuts to the billionaires that has hamstrung our ability to respond to disasters without driving this Country irreversibly into crushing debt for generations.

Yes, we should also trim the pork and personal favors from the omnibus spending bills.

And MOST IMPORTANTLY, we have to take the car keys away from the petulant 15 year olds running this place!
