DO NOT MISS THIS AMAZING PHOTO FROM NOLA!
Edited on Fri Sep-09-05 07:27 AM by DistressedAmerican
I have been collecting some pretty gruesome shots of the aftermath of the disaster. They are jarring. I'm not sure what I will do with them. I feel like getting them out is important. But, they are sickening to look at and I have not been able to work with them yet.

What amazes me is that just 5 years ago I could never have dreamed the horrors that we see documented daily now. Our country has gone from peace and prosperity right into a hell where our government openly tortures and kills hundreds of thousands worldwide and now starves its own disaster victims to death.

Here is one image that I have found that is not too ghastly but speaks very clearly of the horrors just the same. Almost beautiful if not so very, very tragic...

At least Sister Vera was left some dignity rather than being left to the dogs...

1. Tragic pictures, it is heartbreaking
indeed to realize that they are being taken in a major American City.

I pray that people will continue to use these images to keep fresh in all our minds the tragedy, natural and manmade, that needs to be investigated, understood, redressed and avoided in the future.

God Bless Vera and all of the good people who were not so cared for in their final time on this earth.

We should not let this be forgotten or swept under the rug.

2. I saw an interview somewhere with the people who buried Vera
She was a neighbor of theirs. Her body was lying the street for days and they couldn't get anyone to come pick her up. So out of respect for their neighbor, the neighbors had a funeral service and buried her. Very sad.

3. If I remember right, she died not from the hurricane or flooding, but
after being hit in the head during a robbery. . . the police never came, nor did medical aid.

There was a photo of the neighbors gathered aroudn this makeshift grave from a different angle last week.

6. Several days ago I saw a photo of this but it also included
those who loved here and created this spot for her to rest in peace. Searched for the pic but couldn't find it again.

9. I'm collecting pictures too.
Just for my own sake so that they don't get thrown down the memory hole.
