Kelly Carlson (celebrity) - about Kayne West's comments
Edited on Fri Sep-09-05 05:12 AM by mandyky
Guess we have another Brittany Spears airhead type. She said " in this day and age, people don't dislike people for the color of their skin, anymore" and that what Kayne did on TV was "tacky".

I had to google her because I did not have a clue who she is - guess she plays on NipTuck on TV, Heard this on MSNBC Access.

24. Ah! So, she's NOT black!
Which I pretty much assumed since I doubt there's a lot of call for black actresses in a shallow night time soap opera about rich white people trying to "look all pretty."

5. yeah, she is flat out gorgeous .......
evidently she doesn't have much going on upstairs. I heard her say she would never watch "Fahrenheit 911" either. She said some things stir up too much trouble and attention for her taste. I don't think she's really Republican or anything, she just is clueless and insulated, you know? Most people don't read several papers a day and books on all kinds of subjects. They just don't do that. So they hear something or see something and they have a knee jerk reaction to it. Most people who don't believe racism exists has never been around enough minorities to even know what's going on. She's probably lived an insulated life from all of that, so she thinks because she hasn't ever seen it, plus she doesn't have a problem with any race that it must not exist. Lots of people think like that. They just don't know better. But, Kanye West was hurting. You could see the man was in pain, you just can't fault somebody too much for feeling that way and saying something like that. I don't think it was tacky, it probably wasn't the most PC time or place to do it, I liked it because I'm not a big fan of Bush, but I can see how people could be put off by it. The man was in some real pain though. I can see where he's coming from. Now, she probably believes that Bush has our best interests at heart and tried his best to respond to the disaster, most Americans want to believe our leaders have good hearts like that. I can't fault her for feeling that way and being naive. I don't like what she said though. I think she doesn't really get it.

I saw the video and you can see in his face that he's upset and ready to pop. That's probably what happened. That happens to me all the time. Sometimes I get so angry I just pop and don't care anymore about what I say and around whom.

64. no apology for her
I just don't condemn people for saying certain things. I just think she doesn't know better. Like I had no problem with Britney Spears saying that she trusts Bush. She doesn't know what she's talking about, but that's what most people want to believe, that our leaders should be trusted. I didn't condemn Kanye West for what he said either. I pretty much agree with him, of course, but if I didn't I wouldn't hate his guts for saying it. I actually if another gave more of an apologia for him than anything. No prejudice whatsoever. I can see why Kelly Carlson may feel that way, the same as I can see why Kanye West may have felt the way he did. See, the only prejudice here is the one you had against me just because I said she was gorgeous. She is. I also happen to have read several interviews of hers so I probably know more about her opinions on stuff than you do. So I gave my assessment of it. There you go. She probably does need to grow up and become better informed. I'm not going to hate somebody for being ignorant. It doesn't matter what they look like either.

44. You not knowing
Who Kanye is, in all likelihood has more to do with not knowing contemporary popular music, more so than his lack of celebrity. Kanye's CD came out on August 30th and had 1.7 million pre-orders. The last 2 weeks he's had the #1 album in America and will likely continue that streak for another week. Those of us on DU who follow contemporary music, and popular culture a little more are pretty much all familiar with Kanye.

I haven't been a fan of hip-hop since gangster rap usurped 80's dance music, but the article on Mr. West is making me want to listen to his album.

My mom used to be Republican, and she has experienced a severe change of heart the last few years. Ginger Rogers has been dead for years. I'd give her the same benefit of the doubt.

My mother used to be a republican but thanks to George Bush she doesn't like republican politicians anymore. I remember earlier this year when Arnie was having problems in California I told my mother about it and how Arnold was treating nurses and teachers and she said "that's how all republicans are." She used to really like our Congressman (Zach Wamp) but after the Terri Schavio nonsense she told me she was voting straight democratic next year. :wow: He voted for that shit and I Emailed him pissed off and he just replied how he'd always vote "on the side of life". :eyes: My mother did vote for John Kerry last year but she still voted for the republican Congressman. She told my now mayor back in April she was no longer a republican and I was surprised. So thanks Bush and neocons! Now to work on my dad.....

I know more than a few Los Angelenos in 'the business' who are right along with her -- no time for things like Iraq, Bush's crimes and idiocy, and all that, because the only news that matters is in Variety. A lot of showbiz types in Hollyweird really do seem to believe that nothing matters unless it's showbiz. I'm related to some.

I'm talking mostly about the behind-the-scenes people who make the films, TV, and music happen. Very, very, very shallow...collectively, the worst distillation of America's obsession with image and the triumph of form over function.

63. Here's a few pics of her.....
As adorable as she is, I'm going to go out on a limb and say she probably isn't the best intellectual voice to listen to on minority issues. What's weird is I know a girl who could be twins with her. She was so cute and personable it should have been illegal, haha.

I read a few Kelly Carlson interviews, she seems nice, but she says some things that are ignorant. For example, she said: " I didn't see Fahrenheit 911 and I never would. Why create a war within the United States?" I take that as she has no curiousity. She just believes "America is the greatest" and never has ever thought to question the status quo or challenge authority. She isn't pro-war, nor is she anti-war. She doesn't have a true interest in any details, she's just content going along her merry little way. Too many people are apathetic like that about meaningful issues.

66. On second thought, I agree with everything she says...
in fact, I want to discuss her amazing ideas over coffee... at my place.

71. And doesn't care about anyone but herself.
Sorry, but she looks like a hag in the first picture and the second picture doesn't even come close to resembling the woman in the first picture. Perhaps Kim Cattrell was her stand in.

Airbrush - how would we live without it?

69. What is nip/tuck?
Is it a cable show?

Seems like they're dragging the bottom of the barrel to bring out someone to debate West's heart wrenching comments. Especially someone that very few people know that exists.
