One word -- BULLHORN

Was watching tonight's 'Countdown with KO' segment, '#5 Rescue & Recovery'... where rescue/recovery boat crews were floating through NO streets shouting for survivors, through cupped hands. This is at least the second time in the last week that I've seen this.

Might someone perhaps suggest to FEMA (or to James Witt) that they pick-up some frickin' BULLHORNS for the rescue teams?

Along w/ other items, I'd expect each boat to have a high-tech communication device (i.e. radio for long-range bi-directional communication; satellite-based, if necessary) and a bloody bullhorn.

Exactly what do these dudes *do* in their disaster planning sessions?

1. I'm surprised Dubya didn't even have one

2. Maybe he could loan it to the rescue workers
who could actually use it for something useful.

4. When I learned earlier in the week that Brown had no emergency
management experience I told my husband "I have more experience than that guy. I can evacuate a 747 and sat through training for taking of hostages"

I'm a former flight attendent

Amazing;and he probably thought he could coast through a couple of years at FEMA and then set up a consulting business and contract back to FEMA

Shithead

5. I was thinking why aren't they using a loudspeaker system?
Wouldn't that be easier than going house to house, door to door? Set-up a loudspeaker system, ask people that are remaining to please come out on their porches... Seems more productive to me.

7. Well what if they couldn't really shout back.
They should go door to door. And they should have enough people to have finished door to door searches on Wednesday of last week.

8. Problem at the Astrodome today. People waiting in line for
the wrong card. Someone with a bullhorn could have cleared that up immediately.
