Since when is a 300,000 pop. city (Baton Rouge) a "sleepy town"

I've heard pre-Katrina BR described that way twice today (CNN and CNBC). I have lived here since 1989, and, while I admit that I myself am sometimes sleepy, the city, especially in recent years, is hardly so: we have Air America Radio, a new gigantic Whole Foods Market, a downtown architectural Renaissance, a progessive Black mayor (first ever Black mayor), etc.

9. funny, now that you ask, i can't come up with a definitive answer...

it's not "Rougers"....

"Rouge-ans" is said, with a kind of "g" sound as in "judge"

i probably say "people from Baton Rouge"--but then i'm not originally from here
