"Governments that prey on their people."
I just finished an excellent (what else?) piece by Sidney Blumenthal over at Truthout titled "What Didn't Go Right?" It makes a very convincing case that the neocons philosophy of government has been exposed as one doesn't work. DUH! Normally this would go in Opinions- Editorials if it was the actual story that I wanted to call attention to. It isn't.

It was the last sentence in the last paragraph that just floored me:
"Governments that prey on their people."

the last paragraph:
"In a conversation with a former diplomat with decades of experience, I raised these parallels. But the Bush administration response evoked something else for him. "It reminds me of Africa," he said. "Governments that prey on their people.""

I had never made the connection before. Bushco is behaving EXACTLY like a predatory 3rd world dictatorship; Cronyism, nepotism, no bid contracts to the corporations that pay for the corruption. Control of the media. Price gouging, rape of the environment and resources. Constant fear, constant warfare, constant hate of anyone who isn't one of "us".
They are preying on our country and our citizens as surely as Amin or Mobutu or Taylor did in in their countries.

When the hell are the Dems going to stand up to this?

Oh..the whole story is here:
